I ended a 5 year relationship because an argument went too far. I was bruised and shaken for weeks. Now, this man wants to come back into my life in the capacity of a romantic relationship. Should I forgive him, take him back and hope that it won't happen again?

If you were bruised because he physically did something to you, then I'd say Stay Away! Just be glad you got out of that relationship, and move on to a better one. If you go back to him after being abused, then you're just telling him that it's okay to hit people. Don't Do It!!!

If you are so frail and naive that you need this forum to help you decide whether or not to take back someone who beats your azz, then maybe relationships shouldn't be your top priority right now. Perhaps you should consider some counseling to help you understand that getting slapped around is never normal, nor acceptable. You can forgive him for it, but you shouldn't be inviting a repeat.

Get bit once, shame on the dog. Get bit twice, shame on you.

Question is did it ever happen before... honestly? Was the relationship good up until the fight? Does he show signs of a nasty temper and you have overlooked it?? No one really can answer this one for you, but remember to trust your gut feeling- believe it or not, but we are gifted with that small miracle of "just knowing" what is best to do. Good Luck!!!

If by going "too far" you mean he hit you, then no, you should not take him back. Any man who hits a woman once will hit her again. If you just had angry words, then you can take the chance... but if he hit you, then it's over. No second chances, or you're likely to be abused again.

no, people who are violent tend to be redundant, or do you love someone to hurt you because some women do go back into bad relationship where some of them even loose their lives.

follow your gut if you still feel uneasy then steer clear, your heart will tell you what is right.
