I never write anything critical of people who believe in god, gods or God.
I try to remain open-minded and compassionate with people who do not know about God, doubt His existence or rant against His existence.
But I do think there are reasons for some to complain about godliness when that godliness drives politics/politicians or when political goals commandeer godly pursuits.
I am not against praying for wisdom and therefore political guidance. I'm not against any legislation just because God would like it. But I can understand how and why lots of people would be against the "god" that drives some of these politicians into trying to create a world that is nearly un-livable by non-believers.
I pray for the souls of non-believers.....as well as "believers". We all need the prayers to help us be wise and brave.
I've been through several religious transformations ......each one miraculous in its own way. I'm glad that I feel God's presence. I'm blessed that I've known Grace. I need all of the forgiveness that He has promised me.
I just wish I felt better about the godly politician thing. I wish I felt better about the political preacher thing. I wish I felt better about taking a Bible into the voting booth instead relying upon the wisdom that God has blessed me with.
So.....to all of the believers and non-believers and the limbo people and the ranters and ravers......
Consider what the world would be today if the godly people had not triumphed over the Fascists in Germany and the Emperor's followers in Japan.....just a short 60 years ago. They had already conquered about 80% of the world before we decided to fight back. We could not have done it without God's blessings and God's people and everyone's sacrifices.
It would be a different world had we lost.
NOW we have the freedoms to rant and debate all we want.
The freedoms to preach and rant......to believe, doubt and deny.
I think God likes it this way.

=), i sorta see the negative comments as a "good" thing. Let me explain, as i ask some questions, i see the other POINT OF VIEW. Do i agree with it? hell no, but it helps me, when i talk to other people about God. God saved you, and he will save others that has been like you. Dont take the negative comments as a negative thing, learn from it =).

God bless you! I take it that you are a strong believer in God? I am as well. I hope that you go to church, and if so a good one. What religion background do you study, if you have one? There is nothing like people who believe in god and love the Lord. He has done wonders in my life. I go to church every Sunday I hope you know without a doubt where you'll spend eternity when you die? And if you have a bible I hope you read it. I was raised baptist. thank you for putting out your note about God

Ok that was just rude.
Christianity makes a mockery of God. At the same time that Christians claim to worship God as an omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent being, they make him out to be incompetent bumbler. Or worse. Simple forgiveness is beyond his capacities. God must "sacrifice himself to himself to change a rule he made himself!"
This is not only an absurdity, it is an essential absurdity. It is present in almost almost all forms of Christianity, and one can scarcely remove it and remain a Christian in anything but name. By definition, all Christians worship Christ - in some form - and most worship him as a saviour.
But what, exactly, is he saving us from? Though it varies from church to church, no matter what they call it, it's God himself. A hell created by God, a world fallen as a result of God's negligence, a separation from God imposed... by God.
"It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being."
- Dan Barker, Losing Faith in Faith
Christianity certainly isn't the first religion to promote appeasement of its gods, and if it were merely another supernatural protection racket, it would be bad enough. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. Christians elevate appeasement to the realm of "personal relationship", transforming their religion into a true monstrosity.
This is the type of "relationship" that abused wives have with their husbands, that brainwashed hostages have with their captors. It is known in clinical circles as Stockholm Syndrome. Should it come as any surprise that the cries of the church, "The Bride of Christ" sound much like the cries of an abused wife attempting to protect her husband?
"He must beat me."
"I deserve it."
"He has no choice."
"It's for my own good."
These excuses don't work for human abusers, and they work even less well for God. For if God is omnipotent, he must have a choice. And if we are flawed, we are only flawed because that is the way he made us. (No excuses that we ruined his perfect creation. A truly perfect creation does not self-destruct.)
If the Christian God does exist - and I see no reason to believe that he does - he's not worthy of the name.
And that is the ultimate absurdity of Christianity.
Jesus loves you unconditionally but if you dont love him back you burn in hell forever. thats not love its shallow superficial love.

MDF, I totally agree with you. God is love and life in all things. In good and in bad times. To those who write bad things about God, please know that i have ask MY HEAVENLY FATHER, to forgive you because I pity you. I pity that you don't know what the truest and purest love is. That you don't understand what it's like to be forgiveable and be a new person. And those of us who honor God, the righteous way as the Bible and the heavenly Father commands, and we enter into the Kindgom's gates. I invite you in my mansion or whatever God gives me in Heaven.

"If he can rescue me from the depths of hell he will you too!"
Gee thanks, but no Hell here. Okay, I can play the superiority complex game to...
The non religious will pretend to pray may you be rescued from the depths of fantasy.
Sorry if that makes me one of the "negative" or rude ones at the moment, generally I am polite except for those that tick me off, but just trying to show how Superior talk isn't appreciated on either side.
That said, your beliefs are yours, nothing wrong with believing, just stay off my back about mine and we can all lively happy.
