I have been on Welbutrin for a while now and now it isnt enough for me so I have to take Lexapro now. Is there anything I should be worried about like side effects? I'm still on Welbutrin as well. Is that bed or no? Answers would be much appreciated =]

Mixing anti depression meds is never a good idea. Make sure it's okay with your doctor before you take Welbutrin and Lexapro. Lexapro is a good drug though, just don't mix it with other good drugs ;)

Lexapro never made me gain weight. That's one of the reasons I was put on it...because it had a lower risk of weight gain. I occasionally had dry mouth, but that was it. It worked well for my anxiety, but not for my depression. Of course, everyone is different.

Hopefully you were put on Lexapro by your doctor (hopefully a psychiatrist)....if so, and if he said to keep taking Welbutrin too, then you should be fine.

Never ever ever ever start taking or stop taking meds without talking to your doctor.

Side effects of Lexapro, also called escitalopram, that you might experience while taking this, commonly prescribed, drug for depression include:

Trouble sleeping

Headaches

Drowsiness

Dry mouth

Nausea or indigestion

Sweating

Changes in taste

Decreased sexual function or low libido

Fever

Shakiness or tremors

Appetite changes either increased or decreased

Frequent need to urinate

Blurred vision

Diarrhea

While these side effects usually do not require medical intervention, you should report them to your health care provider if they continue for over one week or if they interfere with your daily routine.

Less common, but potentially more serious, side effects of Lexapro that you should report to your health care provider immediately include:

Vomiting

Suicidal thoughts

Hives, itching, or other skin reactions

Dizziness or feeling lightheaded

Feeling over excited, that you cannot control your actions, or rapid talking

Feeling confused

I was on Lexapro. It really helped me when I went through a terrible death in the family. It really didnt have any side affects to speak of. Just make sure to take it everyday. It builds up in your system and you will start to feel better in about a week. Hope this helps.

I was on Lexapro for a while, I gained a lot of weight. It came off when I changed to another med. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about it.

I too have taken multiple anti depressents, these were in conjunction with my doctor's approval..he prescribed them.. I am now taking lexipro also, the only side effect you need to be concerned about is weight gain.. I have been taking it for 4 months and gained 22 pounds... I have lost about half of it so far.. but it is REALLY hard to get off... I am considering stopping it all together... the stress and depression caused from the weight gain is worse than the cure... so talk to your health care provider and don't let him/her off the hook too easy.. they owe you the time and patience to explain ALL of the side effects and benefits of the drugs they prescribe. Shalom.
