What is the meaning of Leviticus 18:22? In Genesis 19:5 What were the men trying to accomplish? What was really said in Genesis 19:9? What happened in Genesis 19:11-12? I am having some problems understanding this story. Thank-you.

I forgot Romans 1:26-32. . .sorry.

I really wanted to give the best answer to the preacher but my knee bends to the first correct answer. However I am going to let this play out for as long as possible. thank-you for your great answers.

Not too hard to understand..
The two angels went into sodom to bring Lot and his family out so that God could destroy the city...
Gen 19:5 The men of the city wanted Lot to bring the 2 men out so that they could have homosexual sex with them.
Gen 19:9 They are saying that Lot came in to visit and live in Sodom and now he was trying to become a judge, or change the customs of the people there..
Gen 19:11,12 The two angels (were in the form of men) and they pulled Lot back inside the house and made the people outside of the house blind. V12 they are telling Lot that they are going to destroy the city and that he needs to get his family together and go with them..

Lev 18:22 It is an abomination to God when men have homosexual or sodomite sexual relations.. Man was made for woman not man for man..
This is pretty straightforward and I just preached on the whole theme two sundays ago.

Gen 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.
THIS throws a little light on Sodom, they were wicked people and their sin was so bad that their wickedness had come up to God, and he had to deal with it.. I also take this to mean that they had some understanding of what God's rules were and just didn't care..

Leviticus 18:22 seems to be telling men not to use another man as a woman (I.E. : a ban on homosexuality.).

As for Genesis 19:9, the wording of the New International Version suggests that the men of Sodom are upset with Lot for "playing the judge". That is, they don't like Lot's moralizing comments on what they intend to do.

The rest of Genesis chapter 19 seems straightforward. The two angels pull Lot inside the house, strike the men outside in the street with blindness, and advised Lot to flee the city.

Leviticus 18:22 is forbidding homosexuality
for genesis 19:5 you have to look at the rest of the story sodom and gamorroh were wicked cities so men freely did that and usually prefered it to sex with women as illistrated.
Lot was an outsider to their city and wanted to tell them how to run things and they didn't like that.
The two men who were angels in human form told lot to take his entire family and leave the city
it was being destroyed

I am tired of people quoting Leviticus 18:22 out of context. Check Leviticus 18:26. The laws quoted in that chapter of Leviticus are ONLY for Jews and people living in the Jewish land. They do not apply to the rest of the world. (I can hardly wait for the fundies anti-gay Jew program!)

Actually it is pretty straight forward and clear. The men wanted to have the men they did not know were angels to have sex with them as they were so perverted they did not want the women but only the men. Homosexuality is forbidden and condemned by God and is an abomination as we were not meant to do that way. When the men persisted in wanting to attack the angels, the angels struck them blind so they could not even find the door knob to get the door open. Nowhere do you ever find that homosexuality is anything but bad and not to be even thought of by anyone that wants to be in Heaven.

LEV.18:22--DO NOT BE GAY
GEN.19:5--THEY WANTED SEX WITH THOSE MEN IN THE HOUSE.
GEN.19:9---And they said, Give way there. This one man, they said, came here from a strange country, and will he now be our judge? now we will do worse to you than to them; and pushing violently against Lot, they came near to get the door broken in.
GEN.19:11-12---IN 11 THE ANGELS MADE THEM NOT TO BE ABLE TO SEE--IN 12 THE ANGELS SAID GET YOUR KIN AND GET OUT OF THE CITY

If you are having trouble with understanding those passages you're going to really be in trouble when you get into the theology of the Bible.
