Beer Burgers

1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
3 Tablespoons beer - preferably Guinness, otherwise any beer available
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
salt
fresh ground pepper

Put all ingredients into a medium bowl and gently mix using two forks. Lightly shape into 4 hamburger patties. Grill on the barbecue or fry in pan on the stove. Serve on hamburger buns with condiments of your choice.

These are also excellent if made one day ahead and refrigerated until grilling time.

Combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and pepper in a large bowl; mix well. Form 8, thin patties from the beef. Each patty should be slightly larger than a slice of cheese.
Cut each slice of American cheese into 4 equal pieces; stack the pieces. Sandwich one stack of cheese between 2 ground beef patties. Tightly pinch edges together tightly seal the cheese within the meat. Repeat with the remaining cheese and patties.
Preheat a cast-iron or other heavy bottomed skillet over medium heat. Cook burgers until well browned, about 4 minutes. It is common for burgers to puff up due to steam from the melting cheese. Turn burgers and prick the top of each to allow steam to escape; cook until browned on the outside and no longer pink on the inside; about 4 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.

Ingredients

1 pound ground lean (7% fat) beef
1 large egg
1/2 cup minced onion
1/4 cup fine dried bread crumbs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire
1 or 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
About 1/2 teaspoon salt
About 1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 hamburger buns (4 in. wide), split
About 1/4 cup mayonnaise
About 1/4 cup ketchup
4 iceberg lettuce leaves, rinsed and crisped
1 firm-ripe tomato, cored and thinly sliced
4 thin slices red onion
Preparation

1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, onion, bread crumbs, Worcestershire, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper until well blended. Divide mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 4 inches wide.

2. Lay burgers on an oiled barbecue grill over a solid bed of hot coals or high heat on a gas grill (you can hold your hand at grill level only 2 to 3 seconds); close lid on gas grill. Cook burgers, turning once, until browned on both sides and no longer pink inside (cut to test), 7 to 8 minutes total. Remove from grill.

3. Lay buns, cut side down, on grill and cook until lightly toasted, 30 seconds to 1 minute.

4. Spread mayonnaise and ketchup on bun bottoms. Add lettuce, tomato, burger, onion, and salt and pepper to taste. Set bun tops in place.

I add 1 envelope of the french onion soup mix to my ground beef and a little bit of pepper. Sometimes I even add some steak sauce as well. Hard to keep my boyfriend away from them! Last time, he ate 4!

I grind my own beef for hamburgers so I know what I'm eating. I remove fat and yucky stuff and throw it away. Dried onion soup is good mixed with the meat, you could try a little soy sauce or steak sauce, top burgers with grilled onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce and condiments.

Montreal Steak Seasoning from McCormick spices. You shake several dashes on the outside and grill 'em. You do no chopping, no greasy kneading stuff into the meat, no sloppy sauces, and it makes 'em taste great [needs catsup/ketchup].

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Thus as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
