First, most native tribes' reservations sit on land that they had no stake in when their ancestors lived here.
Second, they are not the real owners of this land. The land now known as the U.S. was taken by force or bought from others who took it by force. Conquest and purchase has always been the accepted practice for gaining territory. It's simply the way of the world. The Indians fought over land with each other before we ever got here and we took it from them by force.
They don't deserve to have their land back, but they don't deserve to be segregated away on a reservation either. They should have been integrated into our society like every other person.

Your english isnt great, but yes they were the owners of a good part of the south west. Their land really was mostly arid and not very inviting before the government got in on it. Why did they get displaced? Because the government wanted the land. Just like the dutch and english did to south africa. Was it right. No. But a couple hundred years of history is hard to change. Why does most of central and south america speak spanish? Spanish surely wasnt their language to start with. Those peoples got treated no better by the spanish than the north american indians did. Did India and others have the right to quash and over take Punjab? Does China have the right to make the Dali Lamma have to stay out of Tibet? You see The United States gets painted evil but you can use that same brush on every country over and over throughout time.

Your question seems rather simplistic and difficult to answer. The majority of northern Indian tribes trace their ancestry to Asia, their forebears coming across the then-sold land mass from what is now known as Siberia to Alaska. Therefore they were Asian immigrants who later became such tribes as the Klicitat, the Shoshoni, the Crow, Blackfeet, Utes, Sioux, Iriquoi, and so on through many distinct groups and names. From the South, some of the Aztec, Tumarahara, Incas, Mayans and so on explored northward and evolved into different tribes like the Yaqui, Apache, Comanche and other tribes including the Navajo. All were immigrants that fought wars among themselves, drove herds of buffalo over cliffs by starting massive prarie fires that lasted for days or even weeks and practiced slavery, kidnaping women and children of other tribes, frequently killing young males and torturiing enemies in the most barbaric fashion. The true Americans were not the noble red man of the idealistic movies nor were they villains, they were simply not strong enough, smart enough or prolific enough to defeat the European immigrants with what was for the times, advanced education, technology and organized numbers. It is often said Eric the Red was the first civilized human to land a boat on the continent, far ahead of any other immigrants, but few would claim that if his ancestors had propogated en masse, they would be the only true Americans. I'm sure this is not the answer you wanted to hear, you merely wanted a venue for your political agenda.

Playing Comanches and Mexicans
A couple of years ago, I came across BadEagle , David Yeagley’s blog; I don’t even remember what it was that brought me there; I think it was a link to something he’d written about Ward Churchill. I’d never heard of him before, and was intrigued as I began to read. His pride in both his heritage and in the USA was unique, and gave a window into the Indian experience to which I hadn’t been exposed.
So when I came across his take on the calls for Aztlan, well, I just had to share:
Now some Mexicans want the land back. As a Comanche Indian, I have a problem with that. We Comanches pushed the Spaniards out of Texas and eastern New Mexico over 200 years ago. Neither Spaniards nor Mexicans ever managed to return. Comanches used to ride across the Rio Grande every fall to attack Mexican villages, killing, scalping, plundering and carrying off captives and livestock. "Upwards of ten thousand head of horses and mules have already been carried off," wrote one English eyewitness. "…everywhere the people have been killed or captured… ranchos barricaded, and the inhabitants afraid to venture out of their doors." The truth is, Mexicans were helpless against us. So where did they get this idea that they used to own our land?

I agree with you man on most points, although there is pretty strong evidence of Caucasoid people being in North America before or even at the same time as the peoples who traveled here from Mongolia and Siberia, i.e. Kenniwick man and Spirit Cave man. They had Caucasoid features similar to the Innu people of Japan, and the appear to have had red hair. Thoughts to ponder.

Learn your history. Native Americans ARE NOT indigenous to the U.S. They migrated here.
The animals owned the land before the Navajos started killing THEM.

I got your back hayley! Totally agree, Mexicans are not Native Americans, either are any of the others crossing our borders. Keep your focus people, it's not just Mexicans. There's a way bigger picture to look at.
So what exactly defines a native american anyway? I think I'll post that question.

Hayleylov, thank you for putting Yeagley's site up. Interesting stand since Mexicans think they are Native American, don't you think? I vehemently protest that as well as he does.
David Yeagley is a brilliant doctor who has five degrees. He knows his stuff just like I do. Mexicans are NOT Native Americans. The Dine' are fine people in my experience.

Some Americans are spoiled little children who refuse to share...
And your right about the Navajos. What was done to them devastated their community and they continue to this day suffering for it...

They are still here. And some tribes own their own CASINOS now. And nobody can operate a different one in their territory.
You got to admire those who continued on and worked with what they had--and made a great success with it.
