Tell your friend: I was told that Tylenol products were considered safe, and to avoid anything with pseudoeffedrine (sp?) since that could possibly cause dizziness, drowsiness, heart palpitations, and overall yuck feeling in my baby. I'd stick with the saline drops to drain your sinuses, drink lots of fluids, increase your salt a little, and try to maintain your calorie intake. Oh, and keep breastfeeding. Since your body is fighting off your infection, you're giving your baby antibodies to the infection every time you feed her.

If its an actual sinus infection, she needs to take an antibiotic to get rid of the bacteria that caused it. If it's just a bad head cold/stuffy nose, she can take most decongestants. Have her call her local pharmacist and ask. While doctors know what medicine treats what illness, pharmacists are the ones who study the side effects, risks, interactions with other medicines, etc.

It is so important to check with either her ob/gyn or the babies pediatrician. But when I was nursing and had a sinus infection I was allowed to take Tylenol, and Tylenol sinus and also sudafed. Be careful and make sure to take the smallest dose possible that will work and never take more than the rec commended dose of any meds. Hope she feels better!!!

NOTHING - you must keep your intake of substances the same as if you are still pregnant because it all passes through the breast milk. Especially over the counter meds are very dangerous so she should see if the OB/GYN knows if there is a safe prescription!!!
