As a former Marine when young men and woman enlist or take a commission we are ALL obligate to care out the order given to us. As far as the war NO war is ever good. People will die. I was always taught no matter what the cost stand up for what you believe in even if that means standing alone. So is it worth it, that's up to each person to decide.

Are you all serious when you say "No war is worth it?" Either you're entirely without any concept of history or you're young. I'll pass this off to the naivety of youth.

As far as all war not being "worth it" I'd point you in the direction of the Jews during the Nazis, the slaves during the Civil War, etc etc. If you still believe that no war is worth it, I challenge you to put your money where your mouth is. Head up to Harlem. Stand on the side of the street with a sign saying "The Civil War wasn't worth it!" Like I said, though, you're probably just young and naive.

But, one lesson that you need to learn soon is that BECAUSE you're young and naive you should keep your uninformed opinions to yourself until you do a bit of research on the subject. Maybe talk to a Holocaust survivor, or visit a concentration camp. I don't understand why children think that anyone seriously cares what they think!

No. Afghanistan made sense. The 9/11 boys were there, but we decided to put our military might to work where it wasn't needed. Saddam was a bad guy, but he was all about himself. Dr. Evil he wasn't. And he was ruling the Iraqi people in the way they seem to respond to. Our method isn't working. I mean where were all these IED's when Saddam was in power?? Why is it that the Iraqis suddenly have the will to kill young Americans, who really do want to help them? Screw 'em. You know what, people have the governments they deserve. And maybe Saddam is just want the Iraqis need.

2500 young Americans have given their last full measure for an Iraq that isn't worth one drop of American blood.

And now we are resolved to finish the job because it wouldn't be right to leave after so many have died. But do we really believe that having more young Americans die is they way we justify to ourselves the deaths of the other 2500?? Did we learn nothing from Vietnam.

Our government convinced us that we had to resist the communist wave in South Vietnam and 58,000 Americans gave their lives in a failed effort. And today, every Wal-Mart in this country sells products made in Vietnam.......

Why don't we Americans try a novel approach and actually develop a sound foreign policy that allows us to play nicely with the other countries in the playground. Maybe the billions and trillions saved would also allow us to rebuild this country and make it the nation we believe it is. Or not...

I have been to Iraq and will probably go back again. I liked being there and I think it's good to fight terrorists there rather than here. I don't care about money or damn oil. I care about the security of my country. They attacked us so now we take the fight to them, and we should keep pressing them from anywhere we can in that region. I don't care about Iraq or A-stan, I care about America and the future of this great country. I hope I get to go to A-stan and even Iran someday. Those countries have been supporting terrorist groups like Hezbollah, which have been responsible for killing hundreds of Americans even before 9/11. It's a great time to be in the military, and I love doing what I do, despite the sacrifices it involves. It is a volunteer military, so if people don't want a part in it get out and go home.

If your talking about iraq, then yes it is worth it. This war does not only represent our military might, but also our dedication as a nation to always completing our mission, and bring democracy to the world. We are fighting to reestablish a country that was torn apart by violence, into a peaceful society in which they can feel what it is like to be free. America will bring great things to the world, and will do whatever it takes to bring freedom to its people. We will live as one, as a human race. soon

The War in Iraq is long overdue, no one has justified its current purpose. The Government used approximately 500 billion dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan to fight a war that produces no result. Still there are no WMDs, Ben Ladin is no where to found. 500 billion dollars could have helped ameliorate the health crisis in this country, built more schools and much more.

when you consider what Saddam Hussein has done to his people in the last 20 years then yes it was completely worth it...he slaughtered hundreds of thousands of his own people (mostly Kurds and political rivals) just for the hell of it...and used mustard gas to do it (illegal under the Geneva Convention)...

not to mention he invaded Iran (which led to approx. 1 to 1.5 million deaths and again used mustard gas) and Kuwait...and was told by the UN he was not allowed to have certain weapons: both WMDs and any long-range missiles that could hit Israel...when we invaded we found many missiles that violated the UN's ruling (missiles were found that could easily hit Israel)...

sadly, the war has been running very badly and though i agree with the invasion i don't agree with where the war has gone and how its being run...

All war are worthless, no matter if they're right or wrong, justify or not. Human lives will always be lost. If the country leader wants war, they might as well go up to the boxing ring and fight one another.

The war is immoral and stupid, just like the man who decided to start it. The Iraqi's did not ASK for our help. There were no WMDs. Bin Laden is God knows where planning his next attack. American citizens are being stripped of their constitutional rights. Worth it? I think not.
