OK, let me clarify for you. I cut myself, and I just found out my friend does too. I know that I am addicted to it, but I want my friend to get out of it while she still can. It's too late for me, but I still want to save her.

You can tell them all the reasons they should...the same ones you tell yourself, and hope they have more willpower than you do.

People follow examples better than advice. For example many say that it is good to love thy neighbor. Jesus also lived it. Also Bill Gates is getting out of the computer business so he can live this. The 2nd richest man in the world is being a copycat. He is giving all his money ($36 billion) to Bill Gates!

Take care of yourself so you can take care of others. But I don't just say it. See this website which should help you to love yourself more and then get that person to see this website. Then he/she will be doing just what you did. Actually see this site first about cutting and go to site suggested at bottom of that 3 minute read.

I think the word is hypocrite. Hard to do unless there is some legal perspective. Like teens and smoking . Illegal . or you are a parent tell a child not to do some thing . but if is a person of legal age and you are not a mother or father figure , then it is really not your place. try quitting first your self . if it is hard for you then you will know how it feels.

If you can't quit but you tell others to quit that makes you a hypocrite. Either take the plank out of your own eye or stop judging others.

Maybe you both can work on quiting at the same time and
help each other overcome what ever it is.

Quit together and help each other otherwise I'm afraid you may be a hypocrite.

You can't. They have to want to quit. It's the other person's problem, not yours.

you can't. if you can't what makes you think they will listen to you. you'll be a hypocrite in their eyes. You both should try (key word- try) to gradually quit together.

you're thinking about the person you're trying to help. it's hard to help yourself because people tend to put others before themselves.
