Brother, there are a bunch of a**holes out there. You can not focus on the fools who want to blame their misfortune on someone, anyone, and we are the target. They leave food unattended on the stove, they burn candles next to drapes. They store gas cans next to the furnace, and they blame those of us who come to help because we are only human.
Focus on the good that you do, and do not let the morons get to you. You have to be able to turn off the part of you that feels for the victims, and the part that tells you "what the heck am I doing here?" and focus on the job that you are doing. We do not do it for the praise and glory, we do it because it is part of us.
Psalm 23 (Firefighter version) Yea though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death, I will fear no Evil, for Thine art with me, and together we are the baddest ones in the valley!!
Stay Low!

That guy was just hurt because he lost everything. If you lost everything... pictures....personals...everything you would be sooo sad. And when people get like that they just look for someone to blame.
EMT's/Firefighters/Police officers put their lives on the line everyday for people they dont even know. And on top of that the pay isnt that great. So you really have to have the heart to do those things.
I worked at an Assisted Living and it was hard. In a different way I did the same thing. People who were bed ridden I went in there everyday and changed their diapers so they didnt suffer and you know 1 out of 10 people would say thank you. But honestly.... I didnt need to hear it....as weird as it sounds I loved doing it because I know that there arent people who would come in and clean them up and I like to think that I made their last few months on earth more comfortable.

Just some.
Here is story for you.
I've always had a fondness for public servants. Why? Because it's not a job I would like to do.
With that said, a few years ago, my cousin was in a horrible truck accident. He drove an 18 wheeler, his breaks did not work, he swerved to miss the car in front of him, flipped the truck and it landed on him. He was trapped for hours before the fire dept. could get the equipment needed to flip the truck over.
Three hours later, he was freed from the truck. He died on the way to the hospital.
Since then, I no longer look at volunteer fire dept's that are standing in the road w/ their boots and hats collecting money as a pain. I give whatever I have.
Maybe if the town my cousin lived in had the equipment needed, he would be alive today.
I don't know why some people are so close minded when it comes to public servants. Please know that not everyone feels that way. And don't pay any mind to anyone that claims you are under trained, especially if he or she is not a member of any emergency response unit.
Thank you for your service.

Just some people. The individual that came up to you is just an idiot with no respect. Not every house/building can be saved. I respect EMTs, Firefighters, police officers. My uncle is an EMT/firefighter. Keep up the good work. I really appreciate it.

They don't care because they don't want to put themselves into trouble and they are selfish.Well, mostly people are like that now. They just don't care. They feel that your life is your life, why should i bother.if you gained something, i earn nothing. You lost something i don't lost something. The firefighter care because they appreciate the life. They care for the life.Besides that, they shouldn't be afraid because if they are afraid they shouldn't be the firefighter.rescuing people's life is one of their responsibilities.well, i can't say everyone are self fish but i do know that some place outside there in certain countries are very care at single little things.I even saw in the TV how the firefighter and the police working hard to rescue any single animal who are having trouble.Stuck in some place etc. That is a very good spirit. More bonus point for them.Good job

I have every respect and admiration for all who serve, that's exactly why I do not support the war in Iraq. Those who serve put their life on the line every day. Those who serve don't ask questions or make judgments in right and wrong, they follow orders. Those who have never served will never get it.
Never. Like Bu$h, Cheney and Rice.
Some will never get what unions do for Firefighters and police.
The guy was just stupid, their is nothing you or I can do about Stupid. Ty for your service.
I noticed in our small town, 40,000. We cut back on Police and firefighters. Did not have the money. We have a Mayor, A Safety director, a human resource director and a Downtown manager.
All make over $60,000 a year. The Mayor makes $110,000. My City is all Republicans.

You are all not forgotten I assure you. Most people do not take the time to actually look into what you do everyday, what you see, what you experience and understand how you feel. These are high emotional jobs here and only the best get them in your field. I Thank You personally for all the work you do. I salute you.
