I've never been hostile. I've always respected other people's beliefs. Christians are very condescending though, and don't understand the boundaries people have. Non-Christians aren't souls just waiting for you to save. We're not lost or ignorant, or waiting to "find Jesus" if only someone would tell us about him. If Christians can have a dialogue with non christians without keeping this mindset then things would go about much smoother.

Why are Christians so hostile to non-Christians about being hostile to Christians when non-Christians were only being hostile to the Christians because the Christians were being hostile to non-Christians out of religious faith? But more importantly, why can't we all live together peacefully and not distinguish people by their religion or lack of one?

now listen. i'm not christian, so this is a good question for me to answer. some people are just plain mean, christians or non. others are angry because way back when, christians went on the crusades and killed a bunch of innocent people. most non-christians don't hate christians, they just avoid them and have different beliefs. no offense, but most of the time it seems like christians are the hostile ones to other people.

Ignorance.

The hostile ones are either threatened, or had some really bad experiences with the religious right.

Non-christians who are not hostile, usually dont care one way or another, unless a Christian forced their beliefs on them.

I guess my point is to ignore the hostile ones, and be as tolerant of the rest as you want them to be to you.

that question in itself is generalized. First of all not all non-christians are hostile to christians. Second of all, when a non-chiristian IS hostile, then it's not necessarily against all christians.

Personally (not being a christian myself) I have plenty of friends who are christian, and I do not have any problems with them. I do have a problem against those hypocrites christians though, those who claim to be christian but do not follow the christian teachings. All the Great Religions of the world teaches great values, teaches not to hate your brothers and sisters, not to kill, not to cheat, not to abuse, etc. Yet a fair amount of those ppl who claim to belong to a religion still sin against the teachings of their own religion by hating other religions.

I've heard incidence of a preacher who preached "believe in the Christ and you will go to heaven, otherwise you will go to hell" or something along those lines. Well excuse me, but I'd rather go to hell then following such a discriminatory religion. I mean, how would anyone respect a religion that doesn't respect others?

I am as a Muslim would ask the same questions with replacing Christians by Muslims.

As a Muslim following God commands my answer is that God commanded us to "Enlighten others and do not force or even crtiticize them because God is the only one can guide any of us to Him if God will wants that"

Also, Quran states literally that "You will find that those most love Muslims are the Christians", so acting in hostile way is not what God advised us to do.

Yet, Between you and me, how many good Christians/Muslims are compared to other Christians/Muslims worldwide. This statistics will clearly show that we should firstly ask ourselves (Are we really deserving the religion our parents belong to through following what it actually commands)

War is always justified by religion and through the othering of people--in other words by claiming their superiority christians start to believe that those who are not like them are inferior (less than human) and in the eyes of the christian it becomes alright to kill the others (the bad people) to promote their cause, which is usually to benefit a few with wealth.

For example, Bush has the US screaming put the God back in everything and determining just how subhuman those in Iraq are. Iraq is labeled sub-human or the people refered to as them. The only benefit the US will reap if control of oil to benefit the oil companies and friends of Bush. The rest of the country cries over lost sons.

I agree with those, who say it's opposite, actually. At last, because of a terrorist attack, "some" Christians dared to judge 1 billion people!!! Now, who's hostile, even ignorant?..

(I wonder, do you know some Muslim countries had Christian terrorists for ten years, but they never blamed Christianity for that!)
