Any time you go on any kind of a "diet" you'll lose weight, because what does a diet do? It stops you temporarily from eating the stuff you shouldn't be eating. The Zone diet is good in the way they give you healthy meals to eat. The only thing I disagree with is their claim to burn fat with foods, this doesn't work, our bodies aren't made this way. The only way to "burn" fat is to work the body. But the foods are good and their ideas are good too. Will you be able to eat this way after you stop the zone? Finding a realistic one is tough, if you think you can go for it.

I lost 30 pounds over the course of 5-6 months with a combination of the Zone, exercise and balancing my calories. What the Zone taught me was to be able to control my calorie intake without getting the dibilitating hunger pains.

I achieved my weight loss goal and I have maintained my weight in my target zone for the past 5 years - also using elements of the Zone to control my appetite.

The Zone isn't a gimmick. The author, Barry Sears, basically adapted the diet that is recommended to diabetics to control their blood sugar, which creates a hormonal balance in your body and prevents the hunger pains (which are a result of a hormone imbalance from your blood sugar levels).

I highly recommend the book, "A Week in the Zone." It's short and tells you eveything you need to know. I read the book in one night and started losing weight the next day.

I've also written a short book about my weight loss success story, it's called "A Few Bites a Day". In it, I tell you all the things I learned that led up to my weight loss. I also keep a blog at the following address:

its a good diet for some who is really fat or for some one not active. If you are not fat or if your are active its not a good diet for you. If you are fat you can stick with it for a little bit, but once you see urself not losing anymore weight find a more balanced diet that is low in sugar and fat
