This is coming from an american. I know that you guys aren't fond of whats going down over in Iraq with our country, but please dont hate our country as a whole. Theres so many great places and people over here in usa. Just spend a day in New York city or San Francisco two of our most tolerant and diverse cities. i just want you to know that our country doesn't approve of a lot of things going on over in Iraq, most of the left wing and even some of the right wing. I believe war just shouldn't be the answer, and i know that is how a lot of you feel so if you hate our country or think that we are all "morons" I beg you to not judge our entire country of over millions by just a few actions that the majority of us don't agree with.

The Brits dont hate you for the war...they are quite emotional about the language 'raping' as they call it and for many other reasons. But its not that bad, is mostly the older generations that have issues. In my university (London, UK) Americans and English are always into one group, they see each other as cousins some might say.
Dont worry, not everyone hates you....the only ones hated are the blind patriots who think that war is great and that there is no place on earth than the US...people hate their ignorance not their origin.
Take care!

Don't believe all the hysteria, and the internet blogs as the demographic of people who blog on the internet will give you a very distorted left wing liberal view.

We Brits are not stupid and we do not blame an entire country for the mistakes of a few people at the top.

We are also not so powerless that we feel that we simply followed the U.S into Iraq. We made our own decsion based on our very own Tony Blair who most people trusted, saying "Trust me, we know more than we can tell you, but there are WMDs and we will find them".

Now please understand this. There were many of us against the invasion but were persuaded by Blair and his government. What your government said was not relevant to us. You take your President (all presidents not just Bush) much more seriously than anyone else does.

Once however our troops were over there and being shot at the vast majority of British people got behind them and are still behind them. We are able to differentiate between an invasion which was wrong four years ago, and supporting our troops who are in harms way today.

We are intelligent enough to know that WMD's have not been found, but most of us are also intelligent enough to know that its not simply about oil and that there is a bigger global dimension.

We are sensible enough to know that the war was wrong, but it is done and cannot be undone so there is no point in constantly whining about it. What we need to do now is to support our troops in getting the job done so that we can get them home quickly and not scoring cheap political points like some of your countrymen do by constanly going on about Bush all the time.

Yes we have peace marches, but they are tiny when compared to the peace marches which tried to stop us fighting Hitler in the 1930's. The vast majority of Brits want peace more than anything but are bright enough to know that simply burying your head in the sand does not make the problem go away.

We are not a powerful country anymore, but we are a resiliant nation and will see the job, that we wrongly started, through.

I agree with you about Americans. I have worked in New York for a few years now and think that you are great. I also remember standing and looking at the remains of the twin towers whilst smoke still rose from the rubble and remember the unity and purpose of all races colors and creeds in that great city.

So, in conclusion most Brits still love our American cousins. We couldnt give a toss about what or even who your President is as most of them over the years have been frankly bizarre, and as far as Iraq goes we know that we shouldn't be there but understand the need now to withdraw in a way which doesnt make the situation worse.

My only advice to you all would be to discover a tribal sport like football (proper football where you play the ball with your feet) so that you can get passionate about something other than Democrats and Republicans, because you all take politics far too seriously in a country where both parties use indecent amounts of cash, marketing, and P.R to get highly questionable, grinning, spin doctors into power.

the above poster doesnt speak for me!

I have nothing against the people of America (well maybe bush voters) but at the same time the war is wrong.

As for saying the majority support the military because its too late now they are over there, this is rediculous, the stop the war coalition has grown in leaps and bounds over the previous few years. We dont need a military, spend the money on the ailing health service instead.

Hey i am from the UK. and i know quite a lot of people that don't hate the USA. I myself Love the USA and Most of its People. My advice don't listen to those people that would probably would not even be Happy if they were in heaven. They would most likely to complain that the clouds were not the right colours or shape. Or the angels playing the harps are to loud. Some People only find happiness when they make others Miserable. Screw Them.

Pst...don't blame us, or Iraq, but more media...and you know, the fact only stupid American's seem to call through to UK services really doesn't help matters any.

People are people, a large number of my friends are American - thus I have a fondness for it.

I'm confused here. You are asking UK citizens not to hate you because you are at war in Iraq. Is Britain not at war with Iraq too?
Everyone I know thinks they are, so, why would they hate you for doing what they themselves are doing? Should your plea not be to other Nationalities who are not involved?

Dont apologise for your Government and President. The American people are not to blame for the war...... However, it would serve you better to talk to your peers and presuming you are of voting age, make this an issue when the next election takes place. Would you vote for someone who is pro war? Ask their view before voting for them next time.
