Well, how often was your son actually in his nursery in the first few months.... if your like most stressed out parents waking up at two AM to feed, it was not often. If you can handle baby sleeping with you for the first few months, this would give you son time to adjust to the new baby and his new "fun" responsiblities as an older brother. Then it is probably safe to move baby into your son's room. Just make sure that your son has a place he can call his own. Get him a big boy bed, or a cool chair that is just for him. They should be able to live peacefully together for a few years, until you can expand into a new house or make a new arrangment. Just make sure that your son knows he is still special... he might be more excited about baby than you would think.

Since babies are easier and happier staying with mom and dad at night, the only thing you really need a room for until at least age 2 or 3 is their clothing/toys.

I put a small, vertical plastic storage container with three drawers (available at stores like Target or home improvement centers) in the corner of my room next to the changing table and hung a hook for nice clothes over the door. Toys went into plastic stacking bins in the livingroom and home office.

When the baby is older, and your son has more time to get to know/love him/her, he/she can maybe join brother in brother's room for a while, giving you some time to find other options.

I think it mainly depends on the sex of the baby. If the new one will be a boy, they can stay in the same room until whenever. But if it's a girl, you may want to start thinking about getting a third room soon.

i had my 2nd child when my son turned 3yrs we were worried at first so the whole time i was pregant we tried to explain what was going on and we were going to have a baby in the house. when she finally came he actually tried to help alot he would get diaper or wipes or her blanket we just included him in on all of it so he didn't feel left out. now he is 6 and she is 3 and they fight alot but then sometimes you can catch them playing so good together and now we have another one on the way and i guess we will start the whole process over again.

You did a good thing waiting until he was three. All the experts say so. He should be fine now. Tell him that HE is getting a new baby. Make the pregnancy and new baby as much about him as you can and he will love the baby, because it is his.

Jusst tell him that soon he will have a new playmate and he needs to be the BIG brother and help protect him/her. Just remember to show him as much love and attention as before. As for room they will fit nicely together for at least 5 yrs

he's old enough to understand - sit him down, explain. he'll probably go through a faze of jealousy , but he'll be alright. always keep him part of the activities so he still feels important. as far as the size of your home, put them wherever they fit, i think it only makes a strong bond. keeps life interesting.at one point all of my brothers and sister and i shared 1 room. good times....good times and some good fights to. good luck .
