1. Take the ASVAB.
2. Tell the recruiter you would like to be a Corpsman.
3. When you go to see the Classifier at the MEPS station, tell him/her you would like to be a Corpsman. The Classifier will let you know if you meet the requirements and if the Navy has an open slot for you in the Corpsman rating.
4. Only sign enlistment papers guaranteeing you Corpsman "A" School.
5. By the way, Great Lakes is the only place the Navy has boot Camp anymore. San Diego closed down years ago. As a matter of fact, there are high-end condos now located where the old RTC used to be.

You have to enlist to be a corpsman. After basic training at Beautiful great Lakes, IL, you'll spend a lovely 13 weeks at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (bootcamp) at Parris Island, SC. Then you'll get to learn how to be a corpsman.

Not a recruiter but after you finish basic training you go to great lakes naval base and train as a corpsman, decent school right around chicago and you'll get weekends off and stuff.

The cheif is right. If you want to be Corpsman you have to stand up for it. A recruiter may try to talk you out of it, or Meps might. Stick to your guns. If they tell you no. Don't sign up, tell them you are not signing up. I bet they find room. Do not sign anything unless you have it in writing.

Best thing to do is to go to school first and get an associates degree in the field of medicine that you want.
Then go see a recruiter and go from there.
Make sure that whatever you agree on that you get it into writing
you will still have to go through basic at either San Diego or Chicago.
try for the spring in either case,,,,,,I was lucky I went to Orlando when they still had training there.
