Ok i just assumed apples where the most popular fruit, is it the orange why the orange??

Actually, I believe they may be only in third place according to my sources.
1. tomatos 60 million tons per year
2. bananas 44 million tons per year
3. apples 36 million tons per year
4. oranges 34 million tons per year
5. watermellons 22 million tons per year
Actually, I am surprised that grapes are not on the list. I think that they might have been overlooked in the article. Here is an article on grape production that says in 1994 61.6 million tons, putting grapes ahead of tomatos.
The problem with quoting facts is that one can never be sure where the facts came from or if they are correct. Remember the weapons of mass destruction claims of the U S government.

Maybe because of the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". I guess people think its more healthy to eat an apple.

I don't think that apples are the most popular fruit in the whole world... Maybe in North America... but even then, I don't think I'd call them "popular" as much as "abundent". They aren't tropical, they're hardy trees, and can be grown year round in different places. They're pretty cheap... They grow quickly. Yep...

you can take them anywhere. they're easier to transport i mean. i can put one in my purse, wash it easily without hassle and it's less messy. other types of fruit need to be cut down, and stored in a container or something. bananas are the next easiest in my opinion, but they bruise so easily. oranges, you have to peel etc...............................
