if i were to drive from the north of italy to the south on the west coast how long approximately would that take...?

Although Italy is about the size of California, driving North to South would indeed take longer probably 10-13 Hours non-stop

Longer than it seems just by looking at the mileage. The northern part of the journey is mountainous with many tunnels, and most of the trip is non-interstate type highways (2 lanes) with small towns and red lights.
