Do carpeters normally do this? Or are you expected to move all your furniture somewhere for them?

What is a "carpeter"? Do you mean "carpenter" as in a person who builds things out of wood? Or do you mean "carpet layer" as in one who installs wall to wall carpeting?

Either one expect to have to move some furniture around to accomplish their jobs. A lot of heavy furniture and lots of personal possessions is another story. Pack your stuff up and move it out of the way along with all of the furniture you can handle so they can do their work. They will generally help you with the largest pieces and will consider it part of their job.

Good luck with your project.

Anything is possible, but do you really want to pay big bucks (the carpenter's wages) for grunt work?! Two different worlds.

Here...go to craigslist and find some movers.....(see specific link below!)
