First off, If you 've never had any amateur fights, don't think about it. Get some amateur fights under your belt first. It sounds like to me you'd be better off finding a gym, asking for a trainer to take you under his wing, work out for at least 6 months on just the fudlements (hand-eye coordination, throwing punces the right way), then spar, then get a couple of amateur fights, Once you have 3 fights you can fight open which means you can be in these types of tournaments.
Also there are other national and state tournament such as Blue and Gold

Yes, the 2006 National Golden Gloves already took place in Omaha Nebraska. Your best bet is to go ahead and start training for 2007. The Golden Gloves is a very tough tournament, and if you don't have at least a few months training, you will embarass yourself. Your state will have a championship and should also have a Novice division which you will be in if you don't have at least 10 fights. Novices don't advance to the Regionals or Nationals, but if you don't have years of training you don't want to fight open class. I know this becuase I advanced to Omaha last year, losing in the second round. Anyways, good luck

Are you being smart or did you make a typo? It's 2006, F.Y.I. 2206 won't come in two centuries. And for the golden gloves, well, I think you still have a little bit of time.

It may be to late for this year, but I wouldn't wait until 2206. You will be pretty slow then.
