hm, sounds like more of an appeasement. think of it this way, if he took your face in his hands, looked into your eyes and stated "i. love. you", do you think they meant it? more likely.
but some people find it hard to tell that they love someone. sooooo what i think you should do is see how they show their love. do they do acts of service for you? like little favors or protect you or show their loyalty to you? because that's saying they love you without words. you don't always need the words. depends what kind of man you're with.

Depends I guess. I have a boyfriend who does the same thing but he also mumbles "love ya" , not 'you' to his kids. Yet he clearly adores them. I don't like saying it much myself except when its my kids . My family did'nt verbalize feelings much. It would be nice if people could just shout it out when they meant it.

Just because your partner has a hard time saying "I love you" does not mean that they don't love you. Some people have a hard time sharing their feelings. Perhaps your partner would rather show you their love than tell you.

i think they do mean it, its hard saying "i love you" to someone, especially if its the first time they have said it.just give it some time to sink in, im sure everytihng will work out fine, then again he might just be saying it, so it depends on if you trust him completly!and not just 50%

could be that she is shy about saying it and could be that she is not really sure.. at times it takes awhile to be really sure of ones feelings... so give her time and if it still bothers you ask her why she mumbles it instead of just saying i love you..

its kind of hard to say...
i know for me, when my girlfriends would tell me that they loved me i would get a funny/nervous feeling inside. i didnt know whether or not to believe them is one reason i felt that way. i also had a feeling that they wanted to hear it in return but i would never say it. i love you is a very strong phrase and shouldnt be taken lightly...i didnt say it because at the time, i didnt know if i loved them or not. and i didnt want to lead them on any further...i knew that when i told a woman that i loved her it was going to be from my heart, not just something that i knew she wanted to hear...
i say all that to say that they could very well have meant it or they could have said it because they felt they had to say it to please you... pay more attention to their actions towards you...see the biblical definition of love below...and compare and see for yourself if they love you or not...
