Actually, most of the huge churches (mega-churches) tend to be conservative, non-denominational Protestant ones. According to a report from Coral Ridge ministries (a Presbyterian organization) the following is true of liberal-leaning churches: membership in the Presbyterian Church USA fell 11.6 percent in between 1990 and 2000. The United Methodist Church was down 6.7 percent; the Episcopal Church USA lost 5.3 percent; and the United Churches of Christ declined 14.8 percent.
All of these churches have a liberal bent, generally have abandoned the authority of Scripture, along with the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and in many cases, have created a "god" in their image, rather than the other way around. They have degenerated into social clubs and advocacy groups, rather than a place of worshiping Jesus Christ.
Conservative churches on the other hand, maintain the authority of Scripture as an absolute standard, which is a primary difference. They usually hold to an orthodox, historic Christian faith practice.

Hey! Why not consider Orthodox? At least you know what they stand for.
If you have a loose core in a church, you have a politically correct mentality, which very well may not coincide with what the Bible states. Many try to water down the biblical meaning. Churches really don't need to worry if they are pleasing people, they need to be worried about pleasing God and teaching what Scripture says to be true.

Try the Unitarian Universalist Church, it's the best of this world and beyond. Great music, great variety, excellent sermons. AND WAIT THERE'S MORE. It just so happens that research indicates that young people who are Unitarians score highest of all religious groups on the SAT/ACT tests. Wow!
On the other hand, it does bring my blood to an exciting boil to be an angry bigot some times.

The conservative church has built their house on the "Word of God" as their foundation, and the liberal church has built their house on the "teachings of Christ," moving freely in the world...not anchored to a foundation...changing with the times. One doesn't move, the other does. I'm watching...

I am a conservative christian. Our faith is not to be based on feelings but on the word of God. Name it, claim it, churches are popping up everywhere. Society changes with the times. Conservative churches stay based on the Bible. I like to think I am not a jerk. If you have a favorite candy or movie do you like to share it with a friend? It is the same with church. I would like to share it with a friend.

Actually, the liberal Protestants are dying out in the US and they are being replaced by huge non-denominational independent churches.

To say that a conservative Christian is a jerk to anyone who doesn't believe in what he believes is incorrect. I love everyone and am kind to everyone and I am a conservative, Independent Baptist Christian.
