It allows you to freely communicate via voice/text/video to anyone else in the world. It also has support for calling to your chat client from a cell/telephone, or calling a cell/telephone from the client.

Yea Skype is a great program. If you want call forwarding, or voice mail, etc. etc. you have to pay a small fee, for some credits. I'm sure it's worth it tho!

I recommend "Skype" it is voice over the Internet, and it is free. You need a microphone and speaker, or head set combination.
It works very well. I talk with my friend in Japan at no cost.
