They put what kids will buy... they want the money

Because they are idiots. When my son was little, every month he would come home with a school menu. On the back would be nutrition hints. One hint being that instead of canned fruit, they eat fresh fruit.

Yet EVERY single day, the breakfast and lunch menu said that the fruit was fruit cocktail.

I questioned it, in a meeting at the school board. On Mondays, they then had Apples for dessert.

You are right. But I guess they try to sell what the kids will eat.

Just because some people may need to lose weight doesn't mean that everybody should. The schools should be able to sell the stuff and if you don't want to buy it then don't buy it. It's not right to try to force people to eat what you think is best for them. I find it scary that some legislators want to outlaw certain foods because they have decided that it isn't good for us. Who are they to make those decisions?

cus its really cheap and easy for them to prepare... imagine having to prepare food for over 800 students every single day... would you rather spend 10 hours and twice the money on making nutritious food or like 2 hours and half the price to give the kids less nutrious food. if parents dont like what their kids are eating make their own lunch to help them eat better. i'm a junior at my high school and i'd choose a green salad from home over our school's deep fried french fries any day lol

my school recently took junk food out of our vending machines and cafeteria. they now sell baked chips, salads, sandwiches, juices, and teas along with bottled water and gatorade.

i'd say its improved. but whether the school is selling the junk food or not.. an individual should be able to discipline themself.

BECAUSE IT IS MONEY........

the industries that promote that, sell that make billions, and they do whatever it takes to keep it cooming..

Do you remember in schools, growing up they taught us the food groups etc?

Dairy, milk cheese, eggs, etc, and it was understood that milk was necessary and most important etc.

well who made up that information? AND PUT IT IN ALL SCHOOLS AND WE ALL KIDS AND PARENTS ALIKE believed it, WHY,, because "they" SAID SO,

WHO WERE THEY, ? by whose authority? the 'MILK" INDUSTRY, OF COURSE BECAUSE THEY MADE MONEY..

SO YOU FIGURE IT OUT,, people, who are in charge make contracts, work with suppliers, etc, it is all money, and not concern,,
