As long as you aren't getting into uncomfortable private areas.
People love an excuse to talk about themselves, and what better way to learn more about them, and decide whether you would like to spend more time with them than to ask questions?
Don't make is some rapid fire questions on question, that makes you sound too wierd. As areas come up, ask questions. You will go into the date with questions in your mind already, and odds are good that topics of conversation or things that happen will let you bring up a lot of them during the date.
It will also let them know that you are interested in them, not just in trying to score.

yes you have to ask alot of questions..that shows that you are intrested in the person.
