Instead of being "yourself" look at who "yourself" is first. If yourself is a guy who is scared of talking to people that you don't know, then that is the biggest hurdle you can possibly overcome when it comes to getting noticed.

Try to be as sweet as possible, make funny jokes that will make her laugh( the way to a women's heart is through her laughter), and then be yourself.
