YES, marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol and tobaco. No one has ever died from a marijuana overdose, and tons of people die of lung cancer every day. Drug dealers would change from beeing CRIMINALS to BUSSINES men and would pay taxes.

I'm not quite sure about that yet but it's a good question. For now I don't think it should be but we can study Canada who has legalized Marijuana and how Mexico does as they have recently legalized near every drug including marijuana. Some say that by legalizing it though, that crime will be reduced significantly by anything involving the trafficking of this drug and that marijuana is not even as deadly as cigarettes.

Yes. It's proven to be less harmful than cigarettes and alcohol.
And keeping pot illegal wastes millions of taxpayer's dollars. If the cops didn't have to worry about marijuana, they can free up some funds to use towards busting the hard drug dealers. Just ask the police and they will tell you this themselves.
And making it legal also deters growers from starting illegal and unsafe grow-ops cause they can use safe ways of growing their weed.
As for those that say it's a gateway drug, I know many pot-heads who have never turned into crack-heads or meth-heads. And you can also say that simple prescription drugs are gateway drugs too.
Regardless, people will never stop blazing.

yes please. marijuana is soooooooo demonized in society. it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. it definitely alters your senses.

Addiction is a non issue
it's not addictive either. some people say it is addictive but that is the sign of a weak mind. those are people who are considered psychologically addicted. in other words it's in their head. it's not like cocaine or crack. people addicted to that stuff are physiologically addicted which means the body actually craves the stuff like a vampire craves blood. you can smoke marijuana for years and whenever you want never touch the stuff again. i've done that as well. i used to smoke in high school. i stopped the entire time i was in college and years after up until i was 23 when i started again. 6 years. no programs, no weird shivers, no nothing. can't even call it cold turkey it was so easy to quit.

Actual Danger
NONE! marijuana is safer than alcohol and tobacco by far. where as alcohol will destroy your liver over time and tobacco causes cancer, marijuana doesn't harm the body and studies show that it has cancer fighting ingredients. in fact, tobacco is more closely related to cocaine than marijuana. there was a study done in which people were given an amount of cocaine equal to the same amount of tobacco. they found that buzz from cocaine was actually smoother and better than the "harshness" of tobacco but the results were the same - addictive. if you ever have a chance to witness someone kicking a cocaine habit, you would realize it's identical to cigarette smokers who kick their tobacco or alcohol habit. marijuana doesn't do that to you. your body don't go through a chemical withdrawal phase. you will miss the marijuana but it's more like missing a favorite type of food.

Alternative Medicine
So many people smoke marijuana to help them cope with their troubles, especially cancer patients. as i explained before marijuana has cancer fightin ingredients so it's good for people like that. the pharmaceutical companies know this. they offer a product called marinol which is concentrated marijuana as codeine is just the "medical" name for cocaine (which is already the medical name). but these people know that if marijuana is legalized, they will lose profits across the board. So, they spend billions to make sure it's illegal and the population is misinformed.

Cost
Marijuana can actually pay for itself after some time. you can make so many products from marijuana after the bud itself. usually they call it hemp products. do a search for it because there's too many uses to name. it grows fast which is why it's cost effective. it also doesn't grow much higher than 6 feet and doesn't need a great deal of soil. you can see how it's so easy to grow the stuff in your home.

Greed
these are the reasons the govt doesn't want to legalize marijuana. it's too easy to grow for yourself so even if a company wanted to grow it and sell like cigarettes, the profits would probably be too low as people would most likely grow it themselves. if it had to do with its effects, they would have banned cigarettes and alcohol or kept it banned.

Functionality
of course we all know you can't function while intoxicated at all. but, the reason people can't function while being alcoholics, drug addicts, or cancer smokers is because their body is addicted physically or physiologically. it's like trying to operate when you haven't eaten in 3 days. you're body is going to shut down because you need food. it's the same with those other types of people. they can't function because their bodies NEEEEED drugs. but as i've said before, marijuana is no where near addictive. so you can function throughout the day properly without having the proverbial monkey on your back!

Oh my goodness, how can you ask such a thing

Do you realize how many government employees would be put out of work?!?
Do you realize how much money the government agencies would lose if they could no longer keep the money and property and drugs they seize during drug busts!?

There is a saying among some police and judges(who are for legalization)...When you bust a drug dealer and put him in jail...it's a job opening.

No it shouldn't. While marijuana may not be a lethal drug, it is certainly a gateway drug for many other drugs that cause severe dependencies and life altering consequences each day. All drugs, cigarettes included, should be illegal to use.

i think all illegal drugs should be legalized, and all users have to be registered. BUT, i also say they should not be allowed any medical treatment if the overdose, or for any other drug related health problems, because they choose to use them.

everyone has to live with the choices they make, and the after effects, this is no different!

Absolutely, and marketed and taxed. The government would make money from the taxes and save money not prosecuting and jailing users. Dealers would be out of a job and have to do something else, possibly legitimate, that produced taxes.
