Shiraz, or Syrah, is a common Australian grape varietal (species, or type of grape), but Australia is also known for many other types of wine. Below are my recommendations:

$50-$100 range:
Barossa Valley Estates E&E "Black Pepper" Shiraz (around
$80)
Coriole Lloyd Shiraz Reserve (around $55)
Anything Clarendon Hills

Under $50 range:
Penfold's Cabernet Shiraz Bin 389 (around $20)

Fat Bastard is actually a french product.
One of my personal favorites is D'Ardenberg Laughing Magpie. It's a blend of Shiraz and Voignier. Really nice drink, ages well, retails for about $60...

Well Penfolds Grange is the obvious one, but it depends on how much you are willing to spend.
