During the terrorist attacks on the U.S. on 9/11, there were many signs saying that the number 11 is badluck. example: the day it happened was on 9/11, 9+1+1=11, the world trade towers symbolized the number 11, American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into north world trade tower, United Airlines Flight 175 which crashed into the 2nd world trade tower carried 56 passengers, 5+6=11. The Tsunami happened on December 26th, 12/26, 1+2+2+6=11, and hurricane Katrina happened on August 29th, 2+9=11... I'm just pointing out where the "11's" come in on all that, but you decide if you think the number 11 is badluck or not. Thanks.

I have no idea if this site is comprehensive, but it doesn't look like 11 is considered unlucky by any society out there: http://www.newagenotebook.com/Numerology/holy-and-unholy-numbers/

I've usually heard that 11 is good luck (lucky 7-11 from craps). Also, I think you're reading too much into the above #'s...if you try hard enough & play w/ the #'s you can make anything look bad (or good).

That being said, 911 does sound like bad luck & perhaps purposely chosen. Regardless, it will never have the same meaning for us Americans. I still shutter everytime I hear it, esp being a New Yorker and someone who almost got a job in the twin towers.

I don't think the #11 is bad luck. 11 is a prime number and I once heard that prime numbers are considered lucky. This is just superstition, but seeing as how the subject is luck, I guess it's not the worst basis for a theory.

Actually I always thought 11 was lucky, and 13 was the unlucky number.

Someone has a little bit of superstition... it's just coincedence. That's like saying that since the time you burned your pancakes was at 10:52, the number 1,052 is unlucky.

Sorry, bad example, but you get the point.
