What is there to think of it? It is a term used to describe unintended death, injury of damage caused by combat operations.
Instead of think about the phrase 'collateral damage' maybe you should think about the fact that no other army in history has conducted combat operations on this scale with so little collateral damage.

I put that right up there with Friendly Fire !
The next time I trade a car in will I get more for it if there is some collateral damage!
Call stuff what it is and move on - Jerk made a mistake fired on his own troops.
The preschool had to be taken out because it was right next to
the AAA Battery.
We haven't went to war to kill Americans since the Civil War - Toots
Shell Shock - was the WWI term for battle fatigue
Battle fatigue is a real sickness, but not all soldiers get it.
What do the call it when it happens on the job in the factory and the person never was near the military. Factory Fatigue
Postal Fatigue, what about Burger King Fatigue.
Don't blame your petty excuses and try to fine blame by picking on the American soldier.
Come on folks, let get away from this politically correct nonsense

I think it is a sad fact of war. I also wish the leaders would think about it ahead of time instead of after the fact. As for battle fatigue sorry you are both wrong it's called post traumatic stress disorder

It's the government's way of sugar coating the sad fact that there are human casualties in war. How bout when a soldier goes crazy from all the shooting they use to call it "Shell Shock". Now they call it, "combat fatigue".
