I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes when my friends and I are skiing, we'll tell people to stop smoking when we see them. They are always like, oh well. Do they have any respect to the rest of the world? Even to themselves...
I once saw the 'Body Worlds' exhibit (research it on the internet), and they had....sorry if this sounds gross: They had taken the lungs from a regular person after they died, and a smokers lungs after they died. It was a sick comparison. But it was really interesting also. I would never smoke, and I don't think anyone else should. But that's just my opinion.
Anyhow, the Body Worlds Exhibit was a REALLY interesting to learn about things like that.

I am a smoker and I agree with you! I smoked on and off for years and always felt it was rude and inconsiderate to smoke in a place around non smokers. I have a daughter and not only will I never smoke around her but if I do smoke I wash my hands brush my teeth and even change my cloths if necessary before I go anywhere near her. It is a proved fact that children who grow up in smoking households pick up the habit. I cant imagine that a parent would justify smoking around a child! And why should bad habits of others effect the health of children and people that choose not to smoke.

Well, I have quite a few friends that smoke, but they usually don't smoke around me, because I don't smoke. If it really bothers the non-smoker, they just should leave or go in another room while the people are smoking. Sorry if this sounds mean or something, but I'm just awnsering. I feel sorry for the kids. Both of my parents smoke. Most of my family smokes. And No, it isn't fair.

I know, smoking is a very sore habit, i'm a smoker too, and I try not to smoke near younger people, especially when there's babies around. Ever since I was nearly 4 to 6 years of age, I had started smoking without inhaling, at the age of 8 I started smoking inhaling. So when I smoke, It is kind of hard to stop smoking and when the younger ones are around when I smoke, it is very displeasant thing I've ever encountered. I would wish where i can smoke while trying to quit, but when I see a smoke, I just inhale off a cigarette.

Fair it is not. People that smoke are addicted and think only of themselves.. Teach the children to say it smells very bad here, whenever they light up,a cigarette, and to ask them to go outside to smoke if they must. The very best thing would be for the parents to become aware and quit smoking for their own health and the health of the children. Keep telling the parents that it stinks in here, whether it is in the car or in the home where they are smoking .

Fair? No it's not.
But who said it's supposed to be?
What response are you looking for that will make it any better for that child?
Should we eliminate smoking on the entire planet? How would you propose to deal with it?
If the parent is that stupid, to do that to his/her own child, then there will likely be additional issues attributable to the parents inability to properly prepare the child for life on this planet.

I decided it wasn't fair to my son about a year ago(he is 3 now). That is when I stopped smoking. It was affecting his health...i.e. ear aches, falred allergy attacks, bad colds. I decided that my son was way more important to me than any cigarette. I quit cold turkey. I can tell you that it was the best thing that I have ever done. I can smell my perfume....I can smell the shampoo I used on my hair....best of all I can be assured my son is healthy.
To all of you smokers out there....if you want to quit, don't give up!!
