Well I named my male black cat when he was a kitten Blacky, he`s about 30 lbs and looks like a black panther, another name that I like is Midnight, cause in the night you have to watch were you sit or walk because you can`t see him.

I used to have 2 cats that were actually brothers and one was all white and one was all black. I named them shadow (the black one) and bandit (the white one). They were huge cats and all they ate were rabbits. Bandit would act like he was going around the front and when he would be to the point of pouncing, the rabbit would turn around and be face to face with shadow. He would reach out, grab the rabbit, and dinner was served. So that is why I named them. Also rember that what ever you name a cat will reflect what their personality is. Just like when we get named.

Smokey; Blackey; Nicodemus; Ash; Cinder; or name him based on any distinctive markings or funny quirks. A good example is my female cat, she is all black except for a small white dot on her throat, so I named her Domino.

I called mine Boston Blackie (for us oldsters) but he never responded. My husband said he was really a Hot Shot and the cat turned around and looked so we named him that. When my husband gets angry with him he calls him "Hot Sh*t." My nickname for him is Hotty Totty.
