Because they felt like it. I remember once I had some cookies on the desk and some ants crawled on them,i wasnt paying attention and ate them. I finally realized they had ants on them when one bit my finger. What kind of question is this anyway?

Many insects are attracted to sugar, a commonly known fact. But something not so many people know (I'm not sure why) is that many insects are attracted to Carbon Dioxide, something in abundance in any carbonated beverage. Those two factors, as well as possibilities, are big reasons. Chance also comes into play in this case.
