I had a friend in the 80's who said she sprinkled it on her husbands food every night because he was over sexed and she hated it. She swore it worked, but I never believed her.

Salt peter was rumored to be in the scrambled eggs at Navy boot camp in 1975, but it wasn't true.
My service week was spent in the galley as a mess cook and I watched them cook the eggs. No salt peter was put in them at all.
The company commanders never denied the rumor to f*ck with our minds, I think.

Saltpeter, or salt petre, is comprised of sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate. It has been noted by several naturopathic doctors, that excessive amounts of sodium can upset the male hormonal system, making men either apathetic or excessively horny. The effects are hard to predict, and it can be poisonous.
But if you are referring to boot camp, No. Saltpeter wasn't used.
