Ginger ale and pretzels sounds good. I usually use Sprite. Either of these will help calm the stomach. Also, if you can, book your ticket for the center of the aircraft on the wings for the smoothest ride. It's the up-and-down motion of the aircraft as it rotates around the wings that tends to cause the strongest feelings of motion sickness, so the closest you can get to the wings, the better. According to Meryl Getline in her "Ask the Captain" column in USA Today, it's the up and down motion that is the worst. Why? Motion sickness happens when your body experiences motion that your eyes don't see. Inside the plane you don't feel it moving forward, but you can certainly feel it when it rises or drops. When it does drop, your eyes are staring straight ahead at a plane that seems to be standing still, and you are so far above the ground that looking at the window you can't tell the plane is moving up and down. Closing your eyes during turbulence, takeoff and landing may help to reduce this feeling of disconnect that can cause motion sickness. Dramamine works too.

Air-sickness is motion sickness, just like getting carsick. Whatever helps you with carsickness will help in the air too. Focus out the window on distant objects to help trick your mind into thinking the motion of the aircraft is less than it actually is. Use the vent to cool your head, and those pretzles and 7-up, Sprite, or ginger-ale will help the stomach acid build-up. Distract yourself and don't concentrate on feeling sick. If you know you get carsick, get some Drammamine and take it before the flight just to be safe.

Threw up out of the vent hole on an OH58D Army Helicopter on 5/8/90 over Paso Robles California. Did I hit you?

Fresh air, look at something in the distance. Panting is a last resort to possibly keep you from vomiting. A bag always works too.

Peppermint oil is great for nausea. You can also use the icyhot cold type pain patches on your forhead, it seems to help. Eating ginger, like ginger cookies helps dogs but I don't know if it does anything for people.

heave in the brown paper bag they put in the seat and get over it. Enjoy your flight, even if it's the last one you'll take. (and i don't mean it like the plane's going to crash, either)

ITS TO LATE IF YOUR ALREADY SICK, BEFORE TAKE DRAMAMINE TABS AND OR FULL STOMACH WILL STOP THE MOTION SICKNESS IF ITS NERVES YOU NEED TO TAKE SOME SORT OF RELAXER MEDS
