I've always liked big dogs. I had two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. Retrievers are great w/ kids. A little kid crawled all over our big male, and he just sat there. If she has kids, a retriever would be a good way to go. If she doesn't want alot of shedding, I would advise against a Golden, though.

It depends on your friends level of experience and what she wnats in a dog and how much training she is willing to do.
I love Dobermans but they take a lot of work and are not the right dog for everyone.
If you are looking for a dog to take out with you and your firends and socialize all the time Dobes are not the best at that.
Have your firend look at this web site and read up about the dogs she likes. www.akc.org.
It has lots of great inforamtion about what each breed is like and what type of care and nees they will have .

My favorite type of dog is a Yorkie. I have a male named Juicy and in a few days I will be getting a female named Tootsie.

Golden Retrievers by far! They are very smart and sweet dogs, the only downfalall is that they do shed but that can be kept under control with regular brushing!

Pugs and Shi Zu's. Nothing big, they chew everything. Yorkie Westie. There all very cute. Small dogs aren't as high-matience and so much cheaper.

In my opinion the best kind of dogs are Labrador Retriever's, they are very smart and beautiful dogs.
