I'm not sure. This is one that has had me stumped. I don't know how 2 homosexual people getting married does anything to my marriage. I have yet to see any kind of example given for any of this. How would that affect it more than all these people getting divorced? Which is a much larger number than the whole of homosexuals in the states.
IMO, a marriage can only be a "sacred union" if the two who are married make it so. Someone outside of that marriage can't force it to be less unless one or the other of the married couple allow to be so. Then it falls on the one that's married as to why it is no longer a sacred union.
So, I guess they're just looking for a group to blame for all the other bad crap that's going on. I saw listed the decline of our society. LOL That's been happening a loooong time before homosexuals decided they wanted their marriages recognized by our Secular Gov't.
I really wish people would quit trying to make this a theocracy. Go buy an island and start your own dictatorship there.

As a Christian, no, I don't think civilization will "collapse" when gays are allowed to marry. I say "when" because it is highly likely that it's going to happen. The world is just going to keep getting worse, and allowing this sin is just part of that equation.
I personally am not too hostile in my opinion towards homosexuals; I guess society did a pretty good job conditioning me. But because there is a God, and God doesn't approve of it, that should be reason enough to abstain. It is VERY blasphemous to be in a gay relationship yet claim to know Jesus. You are blatently choosing to hurt Him - to go against what is natural - if you do that.
And in terms of this "helping the population explosion" bit and "making things better for mankind", all I can do is kind of chuckle because neither are true.

Because they are pigheaded. They believe that it would somehow break down the family unit...what the hell is a family unit today anyway. Single parents, no parents children living with relatives, single fathers, people living alone because they feel they would be discriminated against or whatever the case. It is a shame that some are trying to keep others from expressing their love for another human being. If you are lucky enough to find love, true love in this world you should be able to be together and live as a married couple. Hetero- or homosexual, period.
It is a change, and there are a lot of people out there who cannot change. It's time people, get over it. Let everyone have the same chance as all the rest!

It's a combination of irrational paranoia and elitism.
I think the more important question is why do gay people want entry into a club that doesn't want them? If the issue is one of having the same rights as a married person, then I wholeheartedly support gay people having those rights. The problem is, for instance, like in California gay people do have all the rights of married people. Our domestic partnership laws give them the right to make medical decisions for their disabled partner, allows them to obtain health medical insurance together, etc. They enjoy all the same rights as heterosexuals.
And yet they still fight to be able to get "married." This is just plain old dumb. Marriage has traditionally been a religious institution. The religous folks don't like homosexuals. Is that right? No. But is it their right to feel that way and choose to not associate themselves with homosexuals? Yes.
It's like girls trying to get into the Boy Scouts. The Scouts don't want you. They're a private club. Stay the hell out. We have the right to free association in this country which also includes the right to exclude those we don't like. It's ugly. It's irrational. And stupid. But still our right.
Marriage is a private club. if religious folks don't want gays in it, then that's their right, no matter how bigoted they are in their desires.
But more to the point, why on earth do gay people want to be part of that awful institution? Marriage is a scam. Have you ever tried to get a divorce? It's hideous. Domestic partnership is far cleaner legally while still giving you all the rights incident to marriage. All the same benefits without the traditional headache.
All in all, as long as gay people have the rights that married people do, then it's in everyone's best interests for gay people to leave marriage alone and allow the bigots to exclude them from it.

You don't understand the big picture, if gays are allowed to marry that means that the church has to accept anyone with a marrige license, including gays. If the church starts accepting gay people in the christian society, more people will think it is alright for gay people to marry, there by increasing the number of christians who will get involved in gay marriges there by, decreasing the value of the truth of the Bible, the Bible will eventually become nothing but a worthless rule book that no one will follow. If you don't obey one word of the law, then the rest must be usless to. What I am saying is if gay marriges are allowed the Biblical doctrine will become less and less truth in the eyes of other people, even christians, therefore increasing the amount of sin in the world, even in the church.

I wish you % was accurate, but it's far greater and especially if given legalization - and a read through history shows the same set of laws and demoralization that our country is currently undergoing - domestic breakup, substance abuse, homosexuality, legislative abuse and legislature taking on moral issues that should remain with the church, and immigration, then collapse. Believe it or not I learned this in history in the 70's - back when school was something more than a place to push kids to pass or fail based on some test - but to gain knowledge.

Well I'm sure that you've heard of the DL ( Down Low brothers). This is true for women too. God said that they would be cast into the lake of fire. Read your bible.1. GOD FINDS HOMOSEXUALITY BEHAVIOR DETESTABLE (LEVITICUS 18:22)
2. HOMOSEXUAL BEHAVIOR HAS NO PLACE AMONG CHRISTIANS ( I CORINTHIANS 6:9-10)
We know that it's an epidemic now. Young men & women are doing it because it's now advertised everywhere saying "it's ok to be who you are". They are a lot of the times experimenting and don't know who God has called them to be. God did not create Adam and Steve for a reason- they can not produce !
God said be fruitful and multiply meaning male and female. That's why he gave him a mate. Gays do the act of mating. It's not productive in God's eyes.
Seek ye the kingdom of God! Love what He loves and hate what he hates.
I hope this helps you and brings revelation. God bless you!

I think it depends on the 'brand' of Christian. Some believe that if the United States recognizes gay marriage their god will condemn the nation the same way he did Sodom. (Though that's a gross misinterpretation of the Sodom fable... but I digress....) Others believe that constitutional acceptance of gay relationships will lead others to believe that it's 'okay' to be gay, leading them to sin.
I think it's important to remember, however, that not all Christians feel that way. You're mostly speaking of Fundamentalist Christians, which are a minority within the religion.

The sin of homosexuality is an abomination to God. The sin is an abomination to God...not the person.
God gave the gift of Marriage to the world, it's not just for Christians. Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Read that again...man and woman becoming one.
I don't hate homosexuals. I don't judge them for their behavior. I also don't condone what they do. If they want civil unions, go for it. Marriage is sacred and is share between a man and a woman.
Sin is still sin and even in a civil union...it is still perversion in the eyes of God. Homosexuality is a sin (I promise it's in the Bible).
God will forgive everyone for their sin through Jesus Christ.
Grace to you and God Bless!!!

Not having anything against gay people, but it is a problem that it is alarming the very Pope.
Why marry???
Living together is enough, the word (marry) means to have children!
Recognitions from states is something else.
