Yeah, but did God flood the world with water - I mean good old h-two-o? I'm not sure it ever says that specifically. I prefer to believe that he flooded the world with Jell-o. Sounds like more fun to me but unfortunately lethal for the poor little fishies...

the fish obviously didn't need sanctuary as they were going to be inundated in their own medium of life - water.
Fish can drown tho if the water becomes polluted or if oxygen becomes depleted or the temperature isn't withing acceptable boundaries (or if you grab it by the tail and drag it backwards through water)
Plants can survive all kinds of things - seeds can live for many years ungenerated until certain conditions are met (even those conditions can vary within the same species) and then when met WHAAMO you have a glut of that particular species (this year is one that has weather conditions that favour dormant dandelion seedlings for example) and some plants can grow very quickly indeed thus herbivores would have found something to nibble on when they emerged from the ark.
Also if you read the bible carefully there were SEVEN of some species that were bought on board not just the two (poetic license methinks?). Also the animals were on the ark for about a year so that would be ample time for many offspring to have been born and reach maturity in some cases - a head count of those leaving the ark is never recorded. But that would give the carnivores a source of food too.

Marky don't drown the little fishhhyyyy!!!!!! Seriously though I never believed in this story as some do. I believe there was a flood like what happen in New Orleans or in some other areas where things went under water. Imagine in that time with no phones and TVs and radios. No FEMA. Nothing. This guy may have put his own live stock on a boat and kept them safe. I really think a lot of what the bible says is blown up and embellished to make it grander than it was. People love a good story.

Genesis 7:21-22(NLT)
21All the living things on earth died--birds, domestic animals, wild animals, all kinds of small animals, and all the people. 22Everything died that breathed and lived on dry land.
Notice some key words: "on earth", and "lived on dry land". Now, what is a common name for dirt? Earth. What do we call this planet? Earth. What is a common name for all the people on the planet? Earth or world. What is a name for social structures, government systems, resources? Earth. i.e. "all the earth's oil..." Depending on how a word is used in a sentence, it could have different meanings. As for your other questions; remember that for all the weeks that Noah and his family were on the ark, the earth was not always covered in water. For a while, near the end of the flood, it was just REALLY wet, to wet to build homes on, and to wet for something heavy to walk on. But dry enough for plants to grow. Also, I know that being an atheist, you won't like this proof, but it's just as rock-solid as any, whether or not you believe in it. But God's hand was in this thing too. God bless!

Pffft, I have found there are some stories you really do not want to look too closely at.
You can't drown a fish, obviously. Now, think with me a minute here. Yeah, I know fish are animals, but there is a day of the week where certain religions do not eat meat. They can only eat fish.
Um, yeah, I know, but that may be the answer to your question. The Bible did not consider them to be animals.

plants started to grow after the flood began to subside (the birds noah sent out), so thats what herbivories ate. Who knows about the carnivores.... there WERE alot of animals on the ark.
drown a fish - easy. fish need oxygen, which is disolved in water. put it in a fishtank, full of water, and seal it off. it should die pretty soon.

Well, if you look up the definition of drowning it doesnt only have to be done with water. You could drown in any liquid. So i guess if you wanted to drown a fish, you could do it in milk, or soda, or in poison. Hope that was an answer you were looking for.

The animals had to have reproduced. Besides... God made this all happen, there's no way he would have just left them to fend for themselves. He provided a way. He has power over life and death and if he wanted the fish dead, he would kill them.

Or how about....How did the dinosaurs die that were water dinos? I guess maybe it's just a bedtime story to comfort children when it's storming outside at night?

You take it out of water or over fill the water. Or, you can take it's mouth and acid in.
