Believe me, I am NOT reading a lot into this, I just want people's opinions. My best friend is 26 and a girl. For 3 months she dated this guy before they broke it off because he was too possessive and because he was away for 2 of those months.

We hung out a bit when they were together, but now it is amazing. She calls me all the time to talk about EVERYTHING, she emails quite a bit and we hang out a lot. I also sense a change in her. She is nicer, she hugs me and puts her arms around my neck sometimes and she'll even tease me by pinching my arms or push me.

i told her that although i loved hanging out, i figured as soon as she found a guy she REALLY liked, I'd never hear from her again. After I said it her face got this upset look and I thought she was going to cry and she said i am the one she would always like to hang out with if she had her way.

what the heck has gotten into her? is she just lonely and wanting to feel, well, wanted again? Loved and needed?

i dont get it.

It sounds like to me that you have grew into her affections...Stay friends with her...Let her know how you feel and what you plan to do with her...Then take in what she saids and then play it by ear...I do hope this helps...

I would say ask her how she feels about you. It's unfortunate if you can't tell, but I know that a lot of people arent very perceptive. If she tells you that she only likes you as a friend, then you are going to be placed in a situation that i have been in many times. One in particular was all through high school. My closest female friend fell into a bit of a pattern, we'd be so close that we'd finish each other's sentences, we even kissed each other goodbye (just a peck) and it wasnt any big thing. And no mater who i was with, i could always count on her, But whenever she got a boyfriend, things changed between us, and she stopped being so open, and so physical. Girls Dont mind being flirty and physical when they're with friends and they arent taken, but once another guy has a claim to their heart, you can be a really close friend, but the touching is going to decrease quite a bit.
So find out if she likes you, and if she doesnt, dont expect the physical closeness to last.

sounds like she wants you. she got upset bc you pretty much bluntly told her that you think of her as a friend and nothing more....

she may have turned to you bc her relationship with the other guy didnt work out and she was lonely...or her relationship didnt work out bc she fell for you

She's on a rebound. Don't get too attached.
