Why can't you believe the hundreds of Muslims on this site and elsewhere that Islam is a peaceful religion and we CONDEMN terrorism. Have you heard any Muslim say wer support terrorism and it's allowed in Islam? No! Because that is not what Islam is. People say "well if Islam doesn't condone it, why doesn't leaders come out and say they don't." Well, if hundreds and thousands of Muslims keep telling you Islam doesn't, why isn't that enough proof for you? You've never heard a Muslim say "we support the acts of 9/11 and suicide bombers." And you never will because we do not.

These terrorists who are going out there and acting in the name of Islam are not Muslim at heart and do not follow the teachings of Quran. They are like every other ignorant person out there, trying to defame Islam.

There are a few people on this site, beloved islam and byefareed, who defame Islam and tell lies about it...do you think they would become a suicide bomber just to stop the growing rate of conversions to Islam...to stop people from learning the truth about Islam (that's it a non-violent religion)?

Because the people on this site, or any of the rest of the normal Islamic people unfortuanetly have no influence over the actions of religios fanatics. Religious leaders do.

I think that part of the problem is that we have heard many Muslims celebrate the September 11th attacks. Don't you remember seeing the Afghans, Iraqis, and others dancing in celebration, burning the American flag, and calling bin Laden a hero? The leaders have to say something. The whole religion is so divided that there has to be someone that can stand up and say that these are the tenants of the faith, and anyone who does not abide by these tenants has contradicted Allah. That's why the Catholic Church has a Pope. If a bunch of Catholics apologized for the holocaust, then it wouldn't have meant anything. When Pope John Paul II formally apologized, visited the Holy Land, and prayed at the Wailing Wall, on the other hand, that meant a lot. There needs to be an authority; a voice of reason that restores order to the crowd.

Please don't misunderstand me: I'm not trying to say that all Muslims are bad or evil: there are bad and evil Christians in the world as well, so it would be foolish of me to issue such a condemnation. It can just get a bit confusing for those of us who want to know where the Muslims stand when there is no authority figure to consult.

the thing is that our leaders to speak out against terrorrism. fatwas were issued against suicide bomber and everything. western media just doesn't want to show this and so americans don't get to see what our leaders are saying.

and for stephen, i know for a fact that at least some of the footage we saw of people celebrating after 9/11 were actually people after a soccer game. there was more footage of muslims celebrating the "death of american troops" which was actually a ramadan celebration. if you could speak arabic it would be obvios that the media is lying to you. the media is tricky and do a lot of editing to show you what they want to show.
