when asked if im single, even tho i have a boyfriend, is it still necessary to say that im a widow?

No more so than it's necessary for some divorced to state that. If you are attached (boyfriend or spouse) then you are not single...however if you are not dating or married, then I'd consider you single (even though that term used to be only used when referring to someone who was unattached and never been married).

A widow is a woman who's husband has died....if you're a woman that's lost her husband that way, my condolences, but if you've moved on in life and now have a new man, it's ok to say your single, I think...
