Doesn't matter. "A lot of people" have crazy weird ideas about food, drinks and dieting. Most of it wrong.

I don't know how drinking water after eating bread would make you fat. It wouldn't as far as I know. The calories in the bread are the same if you drank water or not.

Carbs are carbs no matter what you intake before or after. The water just thins it out for better digestion. But you will feel bloated since the bread is now expanding in your gut.

the water will make the bread expand in your stomach. If you get fat,it's from the bread ,not the water.

from what i understand, the bread expands when it gets wet. for example, if you eat dry bread until your stomach is completely full, and then drink a lot of water, you could be in trouble. your stomach will expand and probably give you a nasty stomach ache. as for making you fat faster, i don't think so :)
a bird watcher once told me not to feed birds dry bread, because it will harm them when they drink water. their stomachs can't handle expanding like ours can, and i don't think birds can vomit.

fat no! a slice of bread has like 100 calories!
you'll feel full though, so it helps you not to eat as much. Thus you will lose weight!
