Not very. I have a friend who has two chihuahuas and a cat. The cat thinks she is the mother of the dogs. The chihuahuas are characters.

Personally, I prefer German shepherds. We usually had three at a time when I was growing up.

Keep in mind that a chihuahua is a small, energetic, excitable dog. And therefore might be hard to train. Once they are trained, though, the little tykes will be fiercely loyal to you.

You will want to keep an eye on him: A friend of mine now owns an abandoned chihuahua puppy, and she has found out that they can be prone to blood sugar problems. Hopefully he'll outgrow them!

I don't know what you mean by hard. Any dog can be difficult, especially if you get them when they're puppies. I have an older chihuahua who had to be given up because his owner went into a nursing home. He hasn't been troublesome. He doesn't bark any more than the bigger dogs I've had.

My cousin has a two year old chihuahua who is adorable! She is very quiet, litter-trained, and very playful!

Have you ever had your arm pinned between two rocks for six days and decided to cut it off with a pocketknife? In my opinion it's about that hard.
