oh for the love of god it's a freaking story, meaning that it was fictional. I'm a Christian and even I realize that.

While I suppose it's possible that two of everything could have been brought on board, assuming infant or egg states, etc... - there were more than two. Read the verses again and you'll find that it was 14 of every clean animal and 2 of every unclean animal.

Of course, they also had to bring enough food and fresh water for a year. That's right, a year. It rained for 40 days and nights, but they were in the ship for a year until the water dried up.

The biggest problem with the story is sh*t. The ark, according to the biblical instructions, had only one small window. How exactly do you get rid of the TREMENDOUS amount of waste those animals would have produced in a single hour, let alone in an entire year, through a foot square window?

It's obviously a story, an interesting story to be sure, but just a story.

Mosquitos love water, not a problem for them on or off the boat.
The length of time it took Noah to build the Ark wasps could have built many nests. It wasn't in Noah's job description to chase wasps away.

By the way, Jesus validated the the flood account in the N.T.

Pests came along uninvited. This included flies. Many organisms are aquatic and did not need to come aboard. Also, juveniles of several species would help the situation. Also, worldwide myths suggest that there were more than one ark used. The Native Americans used a big raft.

The bible tells us that Noah brought on the boat all things that had "the breath of life in their nostrils" (Genesis 7:22). Bugs were not on the ark. I'm not sure how they survived...but unfortunately for us *smile* they did.

At least the birds are fed though!

...and fire ants. Why the hell do we need fire ants!

No, two of every land animal could not fit on a boat the size of the ark unless you piled them all on top of eachother. Genesis literalists try to get around this inconvenient fact by resorting to - are you ready for this - HYPER evolution!

That's right, they arbitrarily decide that 'kind' means 'family' rather than species, and allow for hyper accelerated speciation to fill out the millions of species we see today, but calling it 'micro-evolution'. Never mind that we do not see anything like this hyper-accelerated speciation anymore. I guess they just invoke 'miracle' again to wash over that problem.

You have got to love Literalists.
Okay, now listen carefully. Some of those stories are symbolic only and reflex a lack of understanding both be the authors and the intended readers. Even assuming the text is divinely inspired, please remember it had to be filtered through the mind, limited knowledge and vocabulary of a mortal.
