Iraq - Explosives experts found the bodies of two missing American soldiers tied together with a bomb between one victim's legs after searchers were led to the remains by physical evidence and tips from Iraqis, the military said Tuesday.
But Maj. Gen. James D. Thurman, commander of the 4th Infantry Division, said it was too early in the investigation to comment on whether the soldiers died during an insurgent attack on a U.S. Army checkpoint, or were abducted and killed later. The Insurgents have become more bold and brave as the war drags on. The Insurgents are very smart.

Yes they are smart, and they are determined. they have a good chance of winning. Things looked very bad for the Vietnamese army at the start of their attempt to overthrow the American occupation of their country, but they did eventually win.The big fear should be that USA actions may unite the Muslim world, something that has not happened so far but would have rather dramatic consequences if it did

These people are VERY smart...very motivated...and very flat out crafty. There politics are different, but they BELIEVE in what they are doing. I, as an American Soldier, know better than to under-estimate the enemy. I feel that they will eventually lose, because the world is not the same place it was during the Vietnam war.
There is also a fact that folks always overlook...... the American fighting man joins the Military out of a wish to serve the country, but they CONTINUE to serve for one thing only......their buddy.....when the **** hits the fan, that is all the motivation we truly think about...saving our butt and the guy next to us. We are not truly willing to die for the flag, the country or what have you...but we will die to save our buddy.....
Also...in the immortal words of General Geroge Patton:
Wars are not won by dying for your country.....wars are won by making that other poor dumb bastard die for his.
We have had over 2,000 soldiers killed.....but what is the estimated Iraqi body count?? 10 times that???? 20 times that?????

I don't recall anyone calling them stupid during my 18 months over there. During the summer they would take a washing machine, fill it with water, place a mortar round just above a firing pin and hold it there until the water froze. They placed this weapon in the general direction of a high value target (PX, mess hall, troop billets) and ran away. When the 115 degree temperature melted the ice the washing machine fired. The bad guys were gone by the time any counter battery fire could be employed. No....they are fanatics and can be very clever when it comes to killing our troops.

Well they have definitely figured out how to use our media and value for innocent life against us.As to smart,I am not to sure about that,I would say very crafty and cruel,not smart.
If we can not get down to there level and use their values against them then we should go back to WWII tactics and do some good old fashioned carpet bombing and damn the civilians.As cold hearted as it sounds it cuts casualties in the long run,and would get the populations attention as to why they should not aid or abet the insurgency.

Yes they are, and I don´t see a good ending in this history. Star bad and will finish worst, if Bush was worry about massive destruction arms why don´t go to North Korea in first place.

Many serial killers and cold blooded murders and torturers throughout history have been highly intelligent.
That doesnt make them praiseworthy or right.
Also booby trapping bodies has been going on since the Napoleonic wars so its not exactly rocket science.

they are smart and determined, but they are not unified, to truly fight back against u.s. occupation they need a unified national ressistance and support of the people, which they do not have
