There are different churches of Christ. Unfortunately.

Some people think of Mormons when you say church of Christ because they are called the church of Christ of Latter Day Saints.

There is also a Universal Church of Christ. I think the believe in a hierarchy of churches. I'm not sure what their other beliefs are.

There is also a church of Christ that is not a denomination and follows the examples of the New Testament churches. They do believe that Jesus is the Christ, and that He is God. They are very conservative. They believe baptism is necessary for salvation (this is changing in some of the liberal churches), they don't use instrumental music or any creed, and they don't believe "once saved, always saved" and they believe that while salvation cannot be earned, faith needs to be accompanied by obedience. Each church is independent, shepherded by local elders and deacons.

It depends what you mean by cult. In the normal interpretation, a cult is "a group of people (often a new religious movement) devoted to beliefs and goals which may be contradictory to those held by the majority of society. Its marginal status may come about either due to its novel belief system or due to idiosyncratic practices that cause the surrounding culture to regard it as far outside the mainstream." So yes, Christianity would fall under this category.

"In the context of Christianity, and in particular, CARM, it is a group that uses the Bible but distorts the doctrines that affect salvation sufficiently to cause salvation to be unattainable. A few examples of cults are Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Science, Christadelphians, Unity, Religious Science, The Way International, and the Moonies."

There are 23 different Church of Christs.
Some don't have musical instruments, some do. Some have women preachers, a lot of them don't.

There is only ONE CHURCH. The scriptural Church of Christ, Church of God. Church of Believer's. Jehovah witness. They are all mentioned in the Bible.

Church of Christ, is a mere name on a marquee.

By definition all religions are cults when viewed by other religions:

Cult: A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.

Are they teaching things very contrary to the Bible? Are they teaching THEY have all the answers? Do they deny the Diety of Christ? these are things you might look for to say if a religion is a cult.

Yes it is, they deny Christ's deity so per 1 John 4:1-3 they are not truly of Christ.

Yes.

There are a lot of organizations that gather under the "safe" heading of "church" that are actually a cover for other operations.

My experience is that this particular group has a lot of witchcraft and other demonic activity embedded in the structure of the organization that draw unsuspecting seekers through friendliness and "feeling" .......

Yes, it is.

Any religion centered around a charismatic leader (alive or dead), is a cult.

That includes Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism (plus many more). The Church of Christ is included.
