I can't say it's definitely the best 4 years, but it could be, if you make it so. It IS definitely 4 of the most important and critical years of your life, because what you make of them will go a long way to determining your future. You could waste them away in a lot of ways, including worrying too much about the future, in addition to squandering them and not thinking about what lies ahead at all.
The great thing about high school is that there is a lot to be learned...beyond what you learn in the classroom. Lessons you'll carry with you forever.
As with anything, it will be what you make of it, so I advise to make the most of it. Don't be afraid or let anyone tear you down or intimidate you. Be your own person. Trust me, they'll respect and admire you for it.
Best of luck in school and life. Enjoy.

It's tough to answer that one only because high school is such a personal experience and your next four years will be based on how you decide you want it to be.
As someone who just graduated from college, I can say that I remember those high school days well and I loved it then because it was a time where I could try so many things without restraining responsibilities. I could smoke, I could hang out with new friends, I could drink, I could drive, and all these new things that junior high school never even touched.
I will say, though, that high school also become a serious learning moment for me. Because there was so much time to try new experiences, I and many other people who've been through high school may have made some regretful decisions that made high school hellish at times.
On the lighter side, you will make a lot of friends who will become friends for life and you'll have some wonderful memories once you graduate that you'll look back on years to come. It's fun, it's unforgettable, and in spite of all the bad times, it's very easy to look back on those four years as "the best".
So try what you want, make all the friends you want, but as a fellow student, I would beg of you to be smart about what you'd like to do with those four years. On the whole, it is a great time and I've no doubt you'll remember it forever afterwards.

It depends on your prospective and what you consider "best". There are plenty of days I look wistfully back on the days when I had no responsibilities, no bills to pay, nothing to worry about. The work isn't really difficult (or so you'll find when you compare it to college work) the social crisises aren't really important (you'll finds out when life has made everything that happened in HS irrelevant).
Largely this attitude comes not from what anyone actually experiences in HS but rather the thought "If I could go back NOW with what I know, it would be totally sweet."
However as life continues sure things get harder, but you get more competant and each stage of your life carries with it it's own unique rewards that aren't directly comprable to one another.
To get the most enjoyment you can out of HS, Study hard enough to get good grades, don't procrastinate, and remember that aside from getting good enough grades to get into college, and not getting sent to military school of juvenile hall for making too much trouble, that not a damn part of it is something that will matter in ten years, so don't sweat it.

High school was horrible. Cliques, class, and grass til I passed.
After graduation I held two middle fingers in the air and never looked back. Never missed it for a second.
You could probably make it amazing (I had a very bad attitude about the whole farking ordeal).
but...
Most people who say "high school is the best four years of your life" don't particularly feel satisfied with their lives right now.
(Or perhaps they are youth worshippers and wish they could turn back their own brutal clock).
If it IS unbearable,
it's only the best years
if you let your life
continue to suck
after you leave.
It's your life,
and high school,
just like every other aspect of your life,
will be what you make of it.

Not for me personally. My 30 year reunion is next year and I won't be attending. Now college, those were the best four years of my life. The point really is to enjoy the times when you're young and don't have responsibilities of being self supportive, a family, etc. High School will be what you make of it, enjoy and have fun.

It depends on how you live your life afterwards. High school years are good, because you're gaining the responsibilites of an adult, but you still have the guidance of schooling. After you get out, you must decide what to do with your life; you're not on a set track like you were in school. If you take the easiest routes when you get out, you will live your life wondering if you are doing the right thing. But if you follow your heart (which I believe means seeking God's will for your life), you will not have to question, and you will see and do many amazing things out in the open air.

High school is great, but so was college and so are the 20's, which I'm in now. Make the best of each day because it will definitely go by fast, but also know that you also have a lot to look forward to after high school. Good luck!!

Maybe they mean it was a carefree time without kids to take care of or bills to pay or a home to maintain.
I'd hate to think that it's all downhill after high school. Certainly for me, there are plenty of years that I enjoyed more than my years in high school.
Maybe if I'd been the head cheerleader, queen of the prom, and straight A student, then I'd say differently. Anyway enjoy the next four years and make it a special time in your life that you will remember happily.

"Best years?" that's debatable but it is the most important. what you do and don't do these four years will effect you for the rest of your life. Enjoy HS its a wonderful time and your last taste of carefree life. Get your diploma an make your future bright. I can look back at my HS days and smile and there were very enjoyable but "Best Years" that I cannot say. These four years will effect your future good or bad depending on your choices choose well!
