Only idiots use that term.

When you call somebody a 'REMF" all you are doing is displaying your ignorance of how important every person is.

And ignoring the fact that many 'REMF' jobs had higher casualty rates than infantry. (Such as Military Police during the Vietnam war - a more dangerous job than being infantry.)

Basically - when you see somebody using the term 'REMF' - you are dealing with an amateur.

I am an former army officer and recently spent 18 months in Iraq as a civilian working on different FOBs. I traveled to these locations in over 50 ground convoys; 7 times we were hit by IEDs. I am not convinced that people really hate REMFs but it points out that it is far more dangerous to be at the FEBA. Also, at one time or another, every soldier has been a REMF....BCT and AIT qualify as REMF areas; right?

Because they're REMFs. They sit in the back and take all the credit. Basic and AIT don't count as REMF areas, because it's a question of echelon. When you're at basic and AIT, you don't get credit for squat.

I think the main reason is envy.

I don't think there are good reasons. Why would you hate someone who volunteered to be part of the support team.

When I was in Afghanistan, I never had to go more than a few steps outside the wire. I volunteered for a couple humanitarian missions, but wasn't chosen. I knew 11B guys, they didn't seem to hate support personnel.

I hate the ENEMY. Perspective/ eyes on the prize/

Next in line I hate our senior military leaders. It seems to me, their main goal is to create and enforce unjust and petty rules. They name everything in sight: Freedom, or Liberty, but never miss a chance to deny human rights to those who serve under them. The mission of getting the enemy appears to be just an add on for them.

I would like the civilian leadership to repeal General Order 1A. Some parts of it are breathtakingly unjust.
