i had my regular period then started spotting for almost a week , is that normal?

Yes, it's called mid-cycle spotting, but if it lasts for more than three days, I'd call and ask your obgyn because the main causes of irregular, or post-menstrual bleeding include:
PCOS
Pregnancy
Infection
IUD
Birth Control Pills
Uterine fibroids
Blood clotting problems
Uterine, cervical, or vaginal cancers
Genetic abnormality in anatomy
If it lasted for less than three days, or was a very small amount, it's probably nothing to worry about. Take care.

Sometimes you could have spotting if you switch birth control pills.
