The quickest way is to cut out red meats, starches, breads, sugars, alcohal, and sodas.
Eat veggies (salads are good), soups, and drink TONS of water. If you get hungry between a meal, drink water to fill up.
In moderation eat white meats, and fruits (fruits contain natural sugars, and that can put on weight)
Practice portion control. Yes, you'll feel hungry at first, but think of your goal, and soon your stomach will start shrinking and you won't have that feeling anymore.
Eat 5 times a day. A small breakfast. A mid-morning snack, such as an apple. A small lunch. A mid-afternoon snack, such as carrots. A lite dinner. Do not eat any later than 7pm (6pm is better.)
Go exercise for at least an hour a day, incorporating weight training. Weight training builds muscle. Muscle burns fat. You get the idea.
Good luck!!

What time of day do you usually walk? If it's in the evening, you're not burning fat as quickly as you would if you did it first thing in the morning.
How far do you walk? For running, a half hour first thing in the morning would be good -- but for walking, because it's not as vigorous as running, you'd need to do it longer. An hour, for instance.
And, again, cardio exercise (such as walking) is always best done first thing in the morning. Okay, second thing in the morning -- you're allowed to go to the bathroom first! But don't eat anything. Do that afterwards.
Also, eating 3 meals a day for people trying to lose weight isn't the best way.
The best way: Eat a big (but nutritious) breakfast. Then a medium size lunch. Then just small (and nutritious) snacks during the day.
The old saying went, "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a peasant." That has some truth to it -- but an even better scenario is big breakfast, medium size lunch, then several small nutritious snacks the rest of the day.
Finally, subscribe to Men's Health or Women's Health magazine -- whichever your gender. There's so much useful stuff in both mags on diet and exercise.

Don't eat less. You metabolism would shut down. There's a few things you can try, though. Eat smaller, more frequent meals (Ie, 5 small meals rather than 3 larger meals.) Don't eat less than 2 hours before you go to bed. (Ie., you usually go to bed at, say, 9 o'clock, don't eat anything after 7 o'clock.) This allows the food to have already started through your system before your metabolism slows down when you sleep. Go for a walk each evening, after your last meal, but before you go to bed. This boosts your metabolism, which naturally slows down at night. Eat less Carbohydrates and more proteins; and those carns that you do eat, make sure they're complex (Meaning like whole grain breads and cereals, not things with alot of sugar.) There's multiviatamins that can help with weight loss as well, talk to your phamacist, they'll e ble to ehlp you out with an all natural supplement.
I really do hope this helps, and good luck!

My Mom had the same problem.
Cut back on the carbs and ask your doctor to run a thyroid test.
Carbs turn to sugar which is then stored as fat if the energy isn't used at the rate the excess calories are consumed. And an off-balance thyroid can cause your body not to metabolize energy properly.
Mom now takes thyroid medication and has cut back on the carbs so she's losing weight again.
Never take "borrowed" thyroid medication on a hunch though like some do who want to lose weight. If there's not a real problem there, you can end up with far larger problems than excess weight.

you are eating 3 meals a day yes, but are they the right kind of foods? To lose 1 pound you have to burn 3500 calories, so possibly you need to eat the right things. I lost 95 lbs in 8 months using a program called Shapeworks. Here is a good website to check out: www.loseweightnow.com/tfward
It is all about eating the right stuff!

The possibility is that your body is gaining muscle, because of the walking. Since muscle weighs more than fat this would make you gain weight, *sorry* However, since muscle is heavier than fat, your new muscle will begin to burn calories as you carry it around. Eventually you will lose weight, but not at first. Be careful also, that you do not cut too many calories. If you do, your body will send out a signal telling your cells that you are starving. Your cells will then go into panic mode and horde all of your fat as an emergency precaution, and actually prevent weightloss. *Good Luck# and stick with it.

You are probably not eating enough! If you keep your calorie intake low for a long time, the body will just go into stravation mode, ie: your metabloism will lower so you burn less clories doing the same stuff and it will store every calorie you eat as fat to ensure it's survival. You need to eat more, exercise more and always allow your self a cheat day per week (allow yourself to eat what you want without binging) on your diet as this helps to prevent the body lowering your metabolism again.

The calories themselves aren't as important as where they're coming from. You need to eat healthy meals (no junk food) and have a moderate workout for about 1/2 an hour every day.

This cannot be true! Are you sure you are counting properly. If you take in less calories than you burn, you will lose weight. It is a fact. You maybe miscounting calories or not walking as far or as fast as you need to.
Try speaking to your local doctor surgery and check you have no underlying illness - such as underactive thyroid - and ask to be referred to a dietician. Keep an HONEST diary of ALL your food, drink and exercise to show to the dietician. GOOD LUCK
