I'm thankful my Dad didn't pull out (though it's awkward telling him so). That's enough for me.

In this world you do nothing on your own, and if you think so I feel bad for that family who you say loves you. You would be nothing without them, and I guarantee you did not give them to yourself. Again if you think you are in control of your own life, get real, are you not paying attention to the government or any thing else in this world around you... I guess not, it is all you. You got yourself through school, you got yourself that job with no help, you got yourself that family. Who are you thankful to that your family loves you? God for creating them or you for being the wonderful peach that you are and that is why they love you? I do not think that you need to believe in God, not at all, on the contrary but you do not need to think that you are the center of your blessings, whether they be blessings of circumstance, or your wonderful family who apparently stands beside you. Either way you should thank someone, thank your mom for putting up with your large ego and still standing by you.
I am only offended by the way you believe that you work hard with help from no one else, I do not believe such things. I do believe since you have it as a separate sentence that you do realize what a blessing (you who have no choice what family you get into) are appreciative of the family you got, so good for you for understanding that not everything is by you for you.

Sorry that you see him as an absentee deity pulling strings for you. Actually, the reason we give God credit for our hard work is because He gave us the brains and the ability to do the work. He has provided the tools to do the job. He has given us our very existence. And without that, you wouldn't be able to take in even one breath. Give thanks to Him who created you.

This is very true.
But it is proven that your state of mind and happiness improves with gratefulness - wherever you would like to direct it.
I believe that you and God are not seperate. Their is no diety pulling strings for you. You have not just been created, you are the creator. So you are the one doing it. You are responsible for everything that happens to you.

If you believe in God, then the answer is because he created you. He is happy to see his child's work. If you do not feel that way, then I would like to say that others probably realize your hard work and you should ask for a raise.
Either way, I believe we all control our own faiths.

It seems as if your heart is pricked and you are seaching for the truth about Jesus. I have gotta tell you he is the air I breathe, Jesus is my all, Everything I am is because of him ONLY!
The only way you can give him credit for your hardwork is to know him personally and intimately and the only way to do that is sincere repentence from your heart and Faith to believe that he is able to cleanse you from all sin, guilt and shame in your life. All I can say is O taste and See, that the Lord Jesus is Good!

The LORD gave you the Strenght to perservere in your job.
HE gave you life! HE also gave you the talents that you have, to accomplish what you have done with your life.
HE has been there every step of the way, hoping that you will acknowledge HIM, and come into the "fold", that being the Church.
You wouldnt have accomplished anything with out our LORD at your side.
I wish you well..

If you define god as yourself you will have no trouble being thankful to god for your life. I hereby deem you god. We are all god. Seems this is an easy solution to your paradox. If you use that device, you will not have to argue with the people who suggest you give god credit.

If you're not a christian, then take your credit. If you consider yourself to be a christian, you are supposed to thank god for allowing you to be in good health and live another day to do the things you do. Christians say you don't do it alone, god's hand is in it.... I am agnostic, so it doesn't affect me one way or another.

God is not absent, but gives you the ability, desire and so forth to do what you do. You do not need to know this for it to be true, you are only blessed if you are able to have an ear that hears and an eye that sees.
Peace to you,
Antipas

Cause technically he is not real. It is you who delivered the hard work and it is you who made it possible. You want to give him credit because you force yourself to believe when it is you who did everything. All the labor, the thinking and the decisions etc.
